Delete multiple Consists at a time from a Scenario.
Delete multiple Consists at a time from a Scenario.
I have dl a WS scenario that will not load when I choose it as a scenario in the Weardale/Teasdale Route. Yes, I get the dreaded OOM when trying to run this scenario.
I want to try to remove some of the 200+ consists say bout 5 – 10 at a time to see if I can isolate the consist(s) causing the issue. This is for my own edification.
The scenario is 4.5MB in size and takes an age to open in TS-Tools and once in there you can only delete 1 consist at a time – it would take a long, long time to achieve what I want to do!
So, is there any way – method that you can use to remove multiple consists at a time?
Note: I cannot use the TS Editor as you get an OOM as it tries to load the scenario.
This WS scenario has run OK without issues by several WS subscribers – so it may be idiosyncratic to my machine.
This is not a scenario database loading, verifying error, etc.

Have you tried reducing the usage on loading the scenario editor by temporarily renaming something such as the route lofts folder so they dont appear? This might reduce the load to allow the editor to load up.

No, I haven't - how do you do that?
BTW - This scenario runs fine on my second auxiliary PC.

In the route folder, rename the following folders/subfolders by adding something to the names;
Scenery; Networks/LoftTiles; Networks/RoadTiles. When you open up the scenario in the Build/Scenario editor, you will have the bare minimum of tracks and signals on the painted landscape. Should make it easier to spot the consists that you wish to remove. You could even try driving the scenario with the route in this state, to see if it works

Can you post a link to the scenario Peter....would be handy so we can properly test it rather than spend time guessing.

It is a couple by Not Silent on the workshop just type in N.S500 and/or N.S50 in the search box - both are the same scenario with the 500 "updating" some aspects. As I say it works fine on my other PC so it's a mystery!
Nick
Many thanks for the tip - much appreciated!

Just to clarify, the Networks/LoftTiles; Networks/RoadTiles folders are in the MainContent.ap folder for the Weardale/Teasdale Route. If I extract these two folders (only) and rename them, then the next time TS opens (via Build for this route) it will still use those two files/folders in the .ap folder.
So, do I extract the MainContent.ap folder and then rename the Network loft and road tiles, and then rename the MainContent.ap folder to something else? This way the .ap folder is not used or is there another simpler method?
\STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes\00000112-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\MainContent.ap\Networks\
Thanks

Hadn't thought of that. Yes, you could do it the way you suggest. All you would need to extract would be the Mixmap, Terrain, Scenarios (or just the one you are interested in), Networks\TrackTiles and Networks\Tracks.bin. Then rename the .ap archive.
By the way, you DO NOT extract into a folder MainContent.ap\, but straight into the Route folder. That can happen if you use the Windows extract feature, which sets up a folder with the name of the file to be extracted, as default!
Gary is probably sitting there going "tut, tut"!

Re: Delete multiple Consists at a time from a Scenario.
I have a collection of "bare" routes, produced along the lines you're proposing peter--.ap extracted, folders deleted to leave just the trackwork and the .ap renamed. No scenarios, I merely copy in the single one I'd be working one. I just cut the full version out of the game, paste the bare one in, do the editing, and swap them back over again. The reworked scenario then gets pasted into the full version of the route.

Re: Delete multiple Consists at a time from a Scenario.
I've grabbed a copy of the N.S500 scenario and it loads and runs. I don't have the Thomson B1 so used the F2 trick just to get it going.
When subsequently swapping the B1 for something I do have (7F) I found the Scenario.bin has this reference:
which would seem to be incorrect--there'd usually be a longer path to the .bin file, as shown in the tender references:
Once all those were sorted by swapping for the 7F it worked perfectly.
That doesn't explain why it works on one of your PCs but not the other though Peter.

Mark, is that Source.bin file, or a similar file with a different name, duplicated in a folder following the usual type of pathing?

Hi Gary, I don't think so - it's been like that since day one. I think that is the default loco.

Re: Delete multiple Consists at a time from a Scenario.
Yeah, but there's been at least one other case where an additional .bin file pointing to he *proper* .GeoPcDx etc but in an odd location *slipped* through the net. Just check, if you would, your RailVehicles folder to see if there's a folder for the B1 with the .Geo and a .bin etc contained within it.
