Nick

For some reason, there's a pathing problem to Preston Loco Siding 2 for the 86. I tried re-routing the Siding 1 but that doesn't work either - hope this helps.

Hi Ash

Yes, we are on to it - as I said, this was an earlier version that somehow was kept rather than the later one. The later one has been thoroughly tested (and will be tested again before republishing)

Apologies again, folks

Just tried out the up to date versions of the Liverpool and Manchester portions of the scenarios (VP Cl 47 versions). Both ran as intended (well at least as far as Leyland where I cut the scenario short). Here is a composite image of the Manchester version
[SP] 1M80 1502 GlasEdin-ManLiv - Manchester portion VP.jpg
Reading left to right, top to bottom
Cl86 has pulled off the train, and pulled forward to its setback point. It is now heading for the north end of the station to stable.
A Cl47 now pulls out of the bay and heads for its setback point
That Cl 47 has reversed from its setback point onto its carriages, coupled, and now heads for Liverpool - you are still held at the signal in the goods loop.
You have pulled forward to the setback point, reversed into the platform, coupled up, picked up your passengers, and now head for Manchester.

A couple of things ive noticed so far.

The bat file SLANC_reskins_v4_0.bat still has SLANC_reskins_v3_0.bat mentioned inside it as when it gets to the end of the process, it wants to delete the file but as its now called SLANC_reskins_v4_0.bat, comes up with an error.

Another thing is that im getting lots of references to a fence that is in the UKFP Lofts and Bridge pack but it doesnt exist in my folders anywhere, well not with _d at the end anyway.

Is looking for
RailWorks\Assets\UKTS_FP\Blocks_and_Lofts\PJT\Walls\FP_PJT_Tan_Wood_Fence_d.bin

I have
FP_PJT_Tan_Wood_Fence.bin

Cheers

The reference to SLANC_reskins_v3_0.bat is to remove the previous version that was used in the last phase (I deliberately leave in the current one in case someone needs to run it again).

Oops, missed out that fence reskin (it puts in longer posts so that you do not get a "flying fence" image.) Will be included in an assets fix later this week.

Your comments dont make sense.

What in effect you are saying is that if I bought a secondhand car and it was faulty, the only way I am in a position to complain to the seller, is if I am a mechanic myself ! Thats ridiculous.

1. I downloaded a whole load of new scenarios as part of the new route update.
2. The first TWO scenarios I try, turn out to be faulty.
3. I have alerted the route creator who is looking at the faults.
4. I simply ask if all the new scenarios have been thoroughly checked.

It shouldnt be up to downloaders of the route, to have to check each scenario to see if it works ! That should be done BEFORE release. I am not prepared to learn how to edit scenarios or whatever, just to put right what should be ok in the first instance.

Agreed, Derek, the downloaders shouldn't have to do the testing. In this case, we simply had an error of putting early versions in the pack. The 9T97 and the 4 with the Class 86 handing over to the diesels to go to Manchester and Liverpool, were the first provided for this Phase (last September). They worked a treat. I then made some minor changes to the track to the north of Preston Station, which meant that the scenarios were broken. The creator made amendments and sent updates in December. These also tested out correctly. Whilst i was assembling the pack, I inadvertently put in the earlier versions, for which I have apologised to the creator, and of course to you!
As I said before, there are over 90 scenarios in the pack, and all have been tested. It was unfortunate that earlier versions found their way in (as the medics say when a surgeon leaves something inside a patient in an operation - the patient retained those forceps!).

Not at all Derek; in that case you'd go to the seller and tell him what was wrong--not just a "it doesn't work" complaint. I'm not saying the responsibility for fixing everything is down to the downloader, but it would certainly help the author if he was given some clue about just what was going awry. Two of us tried it and pinpointed one possible cause, a pathing problem, the discovery of which was no more than opening the scenario in the editor and reading the error messages. That is not beyond the ability of all in here, and requires no in-depth knowledge of scenario editing.

Hi Nick

Its really not my day !

Having found that my first scenario run didnt work, then my 2nd one....guess what ? Yup..my THIRD scenario has now failed too !

In this case I chose "4M12 1014 Perth to Red Bank CS". This works fine as far as signal WN513 at Golborne Jn where the Liverpool line comes in. You get stopped at a red signal, and thats that. You cannot move on, because ahead of you appears to be "2H69 1816 Lime St to Manchester Vic" which remains stationary and blocks the route..so end of scenario (again).

It shouldn't make a blind bit of difference, but have you had to swap any stock Derek?...and have you got a list of just which assets you're still missing?

I have spoken to the scenario creator, and he replied
"2H69 starts when it should at 18:44:30. What could have happened is that Derek got in front of 1J69 so arrived early at Golborne at 18:42
Checking my notes - yes this is what "should" have happened. 1J69 should pass before Balshaw junc and so the player gets to Golborne at 1846. So I didn't make the 2H69 start if the player gets within x metres - this would have covered Derek's situation"

He will make some changes so that those arriving early do not have to wait indefinitely.

When we first tested this scenario, we all got green ticks

Nick

PS Have you got that list of scenic assets that you are missing?

To those who have downloaded the route. First of all, many thanks. We are aware of some scenarios that are broken - they will be mended and an update posted. Please run the Route through TS_Tools/RW_Tools to see if you are missing anything (beware of items in .ap archives giving a "false positive"). Again, please post on here. We are aware of a few items, so wish to include all missing in the same update.

Nick

PS make sure that you have run the .bat file to copy the Geo files to the right locations

PPS If you are using the AP Track Enhancement Pack, ensure that you install the SLANC_BRB_AP_TE_Assets.rwp. And read the Manual to show how to change the track height so that it doesn't sink into the ballast!
