scenarios crash to desktop without error
Hi,
I experience, for some time, problems with not being able to start some scenarios or edit these or edit the routes where these scenarios are used.
Today I did a steam verify but it did not help.
The problematic scenarios load for some seconds and then the sim exits without an error, when running the scenario or editing.
The only way I know to 'debug' is using logmate.
All logmate files end with :
2020-05-29 15:37:38.256 - [RunTimeError] - cBlueprintSet::loadFile File exists in blueprint set, but is not a valid blueprint: RailNetwork\TrackRules\PONtrack.bin
2020-05-29 15:37:38.256 - [RunTimeError] -
2020-05-29 15:37:38.256 - [RunTimeError] - cBlueprintSet::loadFile()
2020-05-29 15:37:38.256 - [RunTimeError] -
2020-05-29 15:37:38.256 - [RunTimeError] - cBlueprintSet.cpp : 369
These are the last lines before the 'crash without error'
I searched for PONtrack.bin and found :
PONtrack.bin Railworks/Assets/PortOgden/RailsimulatorUS/Railnetwork 5 kb
PONtrack.bin Railworks/Assets/PortOgden/Railsimulator/Railnetwork 5 kb
PONtrack.bin PONtrack.bin in Railworks/Assets/Kuju/RailsimulatorUS/Railnetwork 1 kb
My reaction is to copy the 5Kb file over the one in Kuju and see what happens.
But I expect there would be more users with this problem, so , before acting I want to hear your thoughts.
thx
Albert

You need to make sure that you copy a track rule, if that is actually what it is.
As the file exists, can you open it with RW Tools and read it?

Re: scenarios crash to desktop without error
Yes, I can but it is kind of empty :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<cBlueprintLoader xmlns:d="http://www.kuju.com/TnT/2003/Delta" d:version="1.0">
<Blueprint>
<cTrackRulesBlueprint d:type="cDeltaString">
</cTrackRulesBlueprint>
</Blueprint>
</cBlueprintLoader>
There is another question BTW:
Does the sim crash after reading the last lines in logmate or on the next not shown line ?

That Port Ogden track rule is ringing alarm bells from the dim and distant past. Rather than overwriting anything, what happens if you cut them out of your Railworks installation (temporarily at least)?

The last lines...it'd be a poor diagnostic tool if it only showed the successful stuff!jalmar wrote:Does the sim crash after reading the last lines in logmate or on the next not shown line ?
Yep, it's a long standing problematic asset.FoggyMorning wrote:That Port Ogden track rule is ringing alarm bells from the dim and distant past.
jalmar, follow Steve's suggestion and cut the file out of the game...if that allows the scenario(s) to run then we'll look at how essential that file actually is---if it's linked to roads or lofts it doesn't have any impact on the game.

thx both of you for thinking with me.
I will backup the file before overwriting of course, I will give it a try tomorrow.
But now i'm curious about your remark...
thx
Albert

Who's and which remark??
...and why overwrite?... the suggestion has been to cut & paste the file somewhere else.

Re: scenarios crash to desktop without error
OK, thank you all.
I just removed the file ( the 1 Kb one), now 4 scenarios on 4 different routes editable and of course I can drive them.
Now trying to find what I did prior to the steam verify since the steam verify did not give me that file, the verify was done after encountering the problem.
kind regards
Albert

There is a Port Ogden & Chicago Metro Route and you might have got the file from that if you had downloaded it sometime back
