EACH 3 Express Project - Railtour scenario

Post by tubemad »

Hello all,

Just a couple of minor tweaks and I'll have this scenario ready, what is it?

I wanted to give the AP Class 37 a good fast spin somewhere, and found a railtour that ran last year (2019) from Norwich to Liverpool Street out via Ely, return non stop via the GEML. I remember this tour running and was the same day GWR were saying farewell to HST's out of Paddington.

Luckily someone on YouTube had filmed the entire trip on this railtour from London to Norwich so I went through the whole 1hr 40 minute video and re-created this railtour for the GEML Norwich Extension. I've tried my best to include the lineside TSR signs visible, and I've placed spotters at stations to roughly where they were in real life!

It's taken time as you can imagine, and unfortunately there are a couple of broken signals on the route (the one at Colchester is one I've known to be broken since the Ipswich route came out, stays at red if you follow an AI train).

With thanks to Martin for letting me use bit's of the video, I've done a comparison with the real video and my scenario, not the whole journey, just a 5 minute one showing bit's where I've tried to copy the real details. Obviously it's hard to match the video exactly, by driving differently, AI speed driving different etc you'd never get it exactly how it was, but it's close as it can get. Also the 315 substitutes for the Class 345.

This video is hosted by YouTube, a site which is outside of the editorial control of UKTrainSim and as such Parental Control is strongly advised.

I must say I'm well pleased with the outcome!
