Virgin 390 Euston - Brum and FGW Bristol - London scenarios

Post by tubemad »

Hello all,

Sorry to ask and I have tried to have a look around, but I've had no luck, however I thought I'd ask around incase someone has seen/done/used a scenario!

I fancied having a spin in a HST from Bristol to Padd, or vice versa. Instead of making one, or using my own, I thought I'd use someone elses, at the end of the day there can be an element of surprise as when you do one yourself, you know the traffic pattern and what you will expect.

To my surprise I couldn't find much! I found a Paddington - Penzance via Bristol split in 3 parts, and had a spin on that, but it is an Easter Sunday so not much AI which is realistic I know, but it was enjoyable to go non stop to Bristol from Reading on diversion, although the timetable is very slack, had 13 minutes at Reading, but again this would be the real timetable, that's fine

I'd quite like to do a weekday one as well (I've done one to Weston I know), but not found a Bristol TM to Paddington with Bath, Chippenham, Swindon and Didcot or Reading calls, am I looking in the right place?

Also looking to see if there are any 390 scenario's from Euston to Birmingham or vice versa for the WCML South V5.2, using the defunct Virgin Class 390 (so I can use the newer Class 390 soundpack) but I find a lot of Trent Valley and WCML North ones, and only a couple of older WCML South V3 ones with the older Class 390 (Intercity with Horgy Virgin reskin). Again maybe I've missed one? I've been looking over West Coast Activities and searching under Virgin Trains.

If there is any I've missed could you point me in the right direction please?

If not I'll knock up one myself, but thought I'd check to see if there is one before doing that!

Why not jut use RW Tools to swap out the old 390 for the one you'd rather drive?

Good idea...however I seem to recall V3 scenarios won't work on v5.2 anyway, as it a overhaul in regards to track rebuilding or something resulting in broken paths?

I could be wrong, I've yet to install V5.2 just looking ahead

No I didn't think to look on there, that looks very good that! Only one from Bristol TM to London (from Weston) and I'll give that a go, but there is quite a variety mix on there I'd like to have a go at the others as well! Good find that thank you!

Glad to have been of help. There are loads of scenarios on ATS now and it is very convenient that you can easily search them by route.

I've discovered a lot on there I've never even heard of, didn't even know there was a TSRMB available for later FGW HST scenario's, as part of a MTU improvement patch. A lot of scenario's and other bit's and bob's that look handy.

Dan5324 - A lot of freeware stuff looks useful, I agree on you with the rest though, I found the ECML Merge and it's still not free, I don't think it will ever be but one day I might end up forking out the £29 for a sub though it's steep for one route, yes I know you can get some other subscription stuff, but the ECML Merge is what I'd like for a non stop Grand Central run, or one of the scottish runs that are non stop Kings Cross - York.

I love the 1990's packs for the North Wales Coast but it's a shame it's £5.99 for the scenario pack, I'd have got that otherwise!

It's just a reskin James, nothing to get really excited about.

Not "straight out of the box", but it's a pretty simple job to place any displaced consists back on the track and amend instructions to point to revised marker names.

A number of posts have been dumped in the skip. We are not restarting the ATS vs UKTS discussion again.

People are free to upload wherever they choose although UKTS is always happy to host new content.

There''s this 10-pack for free for 1999 - not sure whether you're aware of this.
