Water points on platforms not working
I am doing a scenario where I need several stops to take on water on the steam era Settle and carlisle. None of them seem to work. I managed to make one work by going into editor and moving it slightly by=ut that may have just been a fluke.
Now 2 successive water points refuse to work no matter what I do.
Is there anything I can check in the editor?
Thanks

Re: Water points on platforms not working
The link for the water (fuel) point should sit in the track next to the point, and also inside the length of a destination marker. Developers sometimes miss placing a destination marker, but you can place a scenario one to do the job (this is the case on WCML-N at Ravenstruther coal depot)

Re: Water points on platforms not working
I'm interested in any solutions as I have the same problems with the Isle of Wight Network route.

Which water points are folk using (ie what ones has the developer placed next to the track). It may be that some of them are duff!

Re: Water points on platforms not working
Seems to be this one
M:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailNetwork\TransferPoints\FuelPoints\WaterTower\water_point01
It seems to have an associated yellow bar coming onto the track. The track section is showing a green bar well beyond the water point and platform. Sorry if not clear but not a route builder. Placing a second water point does not help either

Re: Water points on platforms not working
OK, the yellow bar will have a cube and arrows coming out of 2 sides, along the track. That is the track link which identifies the point where the facility should function. The green bar is a platform marker (so that the train can load and disembark passengers). It also acts as a destination marker, and so that yellow link should be inside the green bar. It would seem that this platform marker has been moved away from the platform. The best fix would be to click on the white vertical rod in the middle of the green bar (2 more poles appear) - you can move the green bar by pulling/pushing the poles to tally with the platform, and also to cover that yellow link. You then save the route. The alternative would be to move the yellow cube to sit just inside the green bar, though that would place the water point away from where it will function!

Re: Water points on platforms not working
This what I am seeing. For some reason the platform marker extends out some way. The Yellow bar from the water pump seems ok but cannot see that it can be extended.
Thanks for trying to help. This is on JeffGriffs Settle Carlisle route by the way

Re: Water points on platforms not working
It seems to platform marker for this side has somehow overlapped to the other track. I tried reducing it to the length of the platform as it should be but no difference so am stumped

Re: Water points on platforms not working
The link for the pump looks OK, it is the platform marker that is at fault. At the top left of your image, you will see the centre post for the platform marker. Click on that, and seek the far end (that is not on the right platform. Pull that until it reaches the end of the platform next to the water pump (and just beyond the yellow bar). Once all looks OK, save the route, exit the sim, and start again

Re: Water points on platforms not working
Did all that but no joy. Out of time now but will re try tomorrow - I didn't exit the sim when checking it but will re check from a fresh start and see if that helps

Re: Water points on platforms not working
Regrettably still wont work. No reason it shouldn't but will just have to give up with scenarios that need water stops on this route. Thanks for the pointers

Re: Water points on platforms not working
You could always go into the Build\Scenario editor and amend those scenarios, removing the water stop. But remember to ensure that the player loco is full of water at the start (the creator would have reduced the load at the start so that it needed a water stop).

Chrisreb.
Looking at the water tower at Appleby on the S & C line, there is the green platform marker then a short siding marker in front of it and the water tower link is on that.
Maybe the siding marker is what's missing here.
Hope this helps.

Re: Water points on platforms not working
That will be it, John. From the image Chris posted, that marker has gone as the platform marker has gone on a walkabout. The instruction in the timetable will have something like "take water at waterpoint on xxx siding", and that siding is missingjp92214 wrote:Chrisreb.

Re: Water points on platforms not working
I quiet like trying to solve problems, I generally end up learning something myself
I created a new route just to test certain points about the problem. I used Standard TS/RW items.
In each case I got the same problem as you, no engine would "activate" the water tower.
Then I remebered this
https://sites.google.com/a/railsimdev.c ... sel-levels
and looked at 6.1 Setting Coal/Water/Diesel levels
AND LEARNT SOMETHING. If your engine has more than 90% water the towers don't work.
The bit that I learnt was when your setting up a scenario, >>if you double click the tender you can set the amount of water in the tender<< I often wondered if you could do that, thanks to this problem I now know how.
As to the water tower in my scenery I made 4 tracks I put a Platform, a destination,a siding on each one
I put the water tower link ON all of those markers and OFF of the markers
I gave the water tower a name - I tried it without a name
EVERY combination worked. THE ONLY time the engine would NOT load up with water was when it was 90% + full.
Even the position of the default engines tender over the marker was very sloppy and I filled the cab once or twice.
Sorry if everyone knew this, I didnt, so it might help somone.
Cheers John
