Route not working with dynamic lighting.

Post by sem34090 »

Afternoon all,

I've almost certainly asked this before, but I've just gone to use the IoW Network route when I suddenly remembered that on my old machine it wouldn't work with dynamic lighting turned on, so I tried it again and sure enough got the same result - A white screen with only a few assets visible. Panning around revealed that everything loaded, but 99% of it was just white.

Any ideas?

Oh and I'm getting a missing texture in place of the sun when I've loaded it (having turned dynamic lighting off).

I assume that your talking about the steam era route Isle of Wight v7, if you are have a look at the route template file which is located at Railworks\Assets\IWNetwork\TemplateRoutes. It could be an issue with the skybox loading correctly.

Normally there should only be one template file but I think the route builders have left an old or backup file in when putting the route together. The file you are looking for should be called IWNetwork.bin rather than the IWNetworkbin.bin

I tend to change these template.bin files as I have pieced together my own custom skybox and cloud settings which I like to use but your IWNetwork.bin file should want to load the Oxford to Paddington time of day files for the route. If you are driving a pre made scenario if you go to edit and make sure Ox to Padd is ticked in RSC provider folder this should load the skybox correctly and the same if you are creating a scenario, this should load the sky normally.

There is another issue I've spotted which would cause issues with Spring scenarios. When I extracted the IWNetwork.bin file myself which looks like a small typo for the Spring file name (ISpring.xml) which can be quite easily fixed either with RWtools or by creating an extra Spring.bin file renamed to Ispring.bin if you don't.
