Still no blue 37s...?

Post by rkk01 »

Have had a quick browse around the obvious re-skin sites...

Seems like you can have 37s in any colour you want, except blue*

(Well, or original BR Green)

Can anyone direct me towards a reskin for a BR Blue, centre headcode 37???

* and yes, I know I can have a split box blue 37... but that’s not the point
** and I also know that several folks have tried to edit the BR blue variety pack to work with S&C or other available 37 models - unsuccessfully ???

I take it that you don't have the RSC Cklass37Pack01 pack, but any reskin for that should bp portable to the S&C model etc. The only drawback to that is that unless you know how to do the *number redirect trick* you'll lose the dynamic numbering feature.
By "BR blue variety pack" do you mean this?:

No, I don’t have the RSC Class37Pack01, and yes, that is the reskin pack I was referring to...

I’m aware that attempts have been made to port the skins to the S&C 37, but based on the last similar thread (probably also mine  ), I don’t think the results were successful.

The Kuju split box 37 looks totally out of place in a WR setting - and it struck me as really odd that pretty much every 37 livery must be available except the one which they all wore...!

Do AP still have plans for an unrefurbished 37 pack, or include any BR blue reskins in any of their scenario packs (IIRC, wasn’t there a BR blue Riviera scenario pack???)

It's dead easy to get to...

Image

...simply a matter of copying the Red folder in S&C's 37 folder and renaming it accordingly; editing the loco's .bin file to have an appropriate descriptive section, point to that new location folder for the .GeoPcDx files for the loco and cab view (the headout camera does not need changing)

The textures to copy from Ben's reskin are Class37_body01.TgPcDx, which needs pasting into the new textures folder as both Class37_body01_nmc.TgPcDx and Class37_body01_nm.TgPcDx, with the nose when viewed from the cab is Class_37_nose.TgPcDx in the Cab View\Textures folder.

As you can see, there's a slight yellowish tint to the domino lights, the original large numbers still display, the EWS "beast" still shows and the ETH box on the nose is black--these are all fixable by a wee bit of texture editing.

Do you have Wherry Lines installed?

I'm not much good at this

I tried to reproduce what Gary posted but got nowhere - noticed he mentioned the Wherry Lines and use 37422 which is a no logo 37 and swapped the texture for the body
Screenshot_1 - Test TraK_51.11630-6.22338_12-00-17.jpg
The blue on the nose is the DRS version so I copied across the Class37_nose01_nm.TgPcDx & Class37_nose01_nmc.TgPcDx and got a Purple Nose

I saw 37884 which is a grey loco with just cabside numbers
Copying just the bodyside texture it seemed to work but then the ends showed the "no texture" hashings so I copied the Class37_nose01_nm.TgPcDx & Class37_nose01_nmc.TgPcDx and got a Purple Nose - again

37884 left and modded :D

I missed the nose out of the instructions above, sorry about that.
Copy Class37_nose01.TgPcDx from the donor reskin, and just like the body paste it into the new version twice, once as Class37_nose01_nm.TgPcDx and the second as Class37_nose01_nmc.TgPcDx
The files you've copied are bump masks/specular masks, which the S&C model doesn't have.

I had decided to use the the BR_37_0_Blue_W00 folder as the basis for the experiments
And I copied the numbers across from BR_37_0_Blue_W00\Engine\Textures to Class37\BR-Blue\Engine\Numbers and you get the missing textures
Screenshot_1 - Test TraK_51.11634-6.22397_12-01-27.jpg
I also have the Wherry Lines and tried 37422 as that is plain DRS Blue and white numbers - The result is better but no loco numbers

I don't know if there is a way round this?

I still don't understand why that pack was withdrawn rather than updated, It would have been a steady money earner left as it was

Well, I thought the BR Blue AP38 scenario pack for Riviera might have had a 37 lurking somewhere...

But no - 31, 33, 47 on freight duties. Probably tell the same story: 31/4 used as no blue WR 37s after the pack withdrawn

It’s also frustrating that DTG have brought out BR Blue packs which would have been a great opportunity to fill the gap

If you're using the S&C class 37 it features large bodyside numbers, which you don't want---that's why I mentioned the Wherry Lines rework of it which uses more appropriate numbers via scripting/child object placement.
If the naming of the textures doesn't match, then you'll have bother---easy enough to rename files of course if that's the case here.

Because I have the Wherry lines if you put an x after the loco number it covers up the place the large numbers should be with bodyside blue and the arrows appear.

But I have no idea how to make the numbers appear on the cabside

At a guess, you need to use the AP scripting and ensure you have the reskin pointing to whichever child object is used for the replacement numbers.

I think this loco is only has the one number - 37422 - and it is part of the reskin from AP

I don't think anyone apart from AP knows yet.
