Re: TS2020 Keeps Crashing
Using the [SB]A2 Blue Peter on other routes has the same effect, the game crashes after the loco has been running for about 10 miles or so.
The regulator gives the same clanking sound when you move it too.

Re: TS2020 Keeps Crashing
Peter....if there was/is a problem with Win 10 then we'd all be suffering. We ain't though, so it has to be viewed as a problem "closer to home"...as discussed/highlighted many times in threads such as this. Don't forget that a single dodgy file can, and will, cause problems--if those problems are because Win 10 isn't as forgiving of *errors* then 7 it still doesn't mean Win 10 is at fault!
Are you running a completely fresh instance of TS since you changed the OS, or just hoping that an upgrade has gone incredibly smoothly?

Before a clean install of windows I would run several windows diagnostics:
Exactly in order from a cmd (admin) prompt
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow at least 3 times following the above
dxdiag
chkdsk /f
I would also check the windows update history to see if any update failed - just in case.

I ran a scenario this afternoon and once again it crashed - Windows Defender was busy stopping RuntimeBroker.exe accessing my pictures file
I don't know if that process is what caused the crash or Windows Defender stopping it.
So this evening I did a RD (QD with more) on the Frankfurt High Speed
But before starting I went offline in Steam and in Virus & threat protection settings and I turned it Off.
And I also turned off Cloud Delivered Protection.
Plus I removed my Internet connection cable
Started the Scenario and ran it to the end without any problems
I still think windows is doing something in the Background causing the game to crash.
I notice somewhere is a Fresh Start option in Windows but I don't exactly understand what that is?

Yeah, but I didn't ask about that...749006 wrote:I went thru the upgrade process as that was still available.

RuntimeBroker doesn't... it handles the checking and reporting of the permissions running apps have. If you stop RuntimeBroker all apps it's monitoring will close.749006 wrote:Windows Defender was busy stopping RuntimeBroker.exe accessing my pictures file
I imagine you've followed the *official* method of logging into to Win 10--using a Microsoft account. This immediately wants to synch your personal files with any other devices you may have connected. You may prefer to use a more traditional local account instead... https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-1 ... t-account/

Beware
wrt to runtime broker make sure that you turn off tips.
Head to Settings > System > Notifications & Actions, and then turn off (untick) the “Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows” option.

Sounds like you need to set up Windows Defender to allow Steam and TS to run without issues. The Fresh Start tool resets your Windows 10 device to its original out-of-the-box state with the latest version of the operating system. Fresh Start will wipe out most of your apps, including ones pre-installed on your device. Most of your personal settings will also be lost. You may lose your digital licenses and digital content associated with those applications, which could impact your ability to use them. For this reason, Microsoft doesn't recommend using the tool if you want to ensure all of your apps remain properly installed and licensed.

Re: TS2020 Keeps Crashing
I started from a clean install of Win10 pro 64bit and a clean install of TS2020 both on to brand new drives.
I never got to try out the Southampton - Bournemouth route before I had to replace my motherboard and all the rest, I got it (the route) just before I fell ill and the MoBo failed the day after, so, I do not know if the scenario was stable before I updated the hardware.
Certainly the A2 locomotive was stable before, as it is one of my favourites and I had driven it a lot before the enforced shut down.
I'm running no over clocking on CPU,GPU, or memory, I have tried overclocking and it was stable at 4.9GHz on all cores, and temperatures were well within limits. With the power limitations of the nVidia/Asus RTX card I have not tried to O/C it, mother board reports that the memory can be overclocked by a fair bit but as there is nothing I need to O/C it for not done it.
Not looking forward to having to having to delete the 280GB of Railworks and download it again just to see if that cures it or not.
Edit: gptech you posted just as I was posting, going to have a look at that as I would rather have the local account as I don't use the sharing function across multiple platforms. In fact it is the one thing that has been bugging me since I re-installed the fresh Win 10. Now off to look at that page and see what it says, thanks.

I ran the CMD commands as you posted
After DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth it reported Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
No problems with the other CMD commands
It also created a big log of which most is gobbdygook to me

Re: TS2020 Keeps Crashing
The switching back to a local account and turning off notifications etc. did not have any effect that I could see, still crashes on this scenario.
One thing I have noticed the crash happens when I get the loco up to 72.9mph

Try the loco in a new free roam scenario.

Have done so, and as soon as it gets to 72.9mph the sim freezes and crashesgptech wrote:Try the loco in a new free roam scenario.
I only really noticed it when I started taking screen shots of when the crash happened and noticed that all the speeds were the exact same.
It never did it before, I even have the badge for driving the A2 at over 100mph but that was a few years ago

Re: TS2020 Keeps Crashing
So your problem would seem to be more one having a problematic stock item than one related to the core functioning of the game.

Re: TS2020 Keeps Crashing
So I'm going to remove the A2 from my DLC and delete it from my Railworks and then re download it … if I can work out how to do that and then see how it works, as the loco did work fine before, wonder if the Southampton - Bournemouth version over wrote anything in the A2 DLC?
