Scenario tester for DPS ECML South route

Post by tubemad »

Hello all,

Is someone willing to test a scenario for me please just as a process of elimination for a problem.

I have tested it 3 times, and unfortunately I get stuck between Stevenage and Hitchin passing a 4 car Class 321. It just freezes, not memory dump, just locks, and I have to go to task manager which tells me it's 'not responding'.

On the other two tests, it locks at the exact same spot, where the 321 passes it's the same view where it locks up with no message. I've played it through in the editor on the 'play' mode and can't see any obvious collisions with AI or anything, I'd just like to see if anyone else can get past Hitchin at least so I know if the problem lies on my machine or is an actual scenario problem.

If you'd like to give it a go, please PM me with your E-mail address. You will need:

DPS East Coast Mainline South Royston extension
AP Class 321
AP Class 365
AP Class 313
AP MTU/MK3 Enhancement
AP VP185/Mk3 Enhancement
AP Class 91 Enhancement
RSC Class 91
RSC Class 180

The scenario is Kings Cross - Peterborough with EMT VP185 Class 43 powercars on set 'NL65', based on when the powercars were hired in by VTEC and had a fixed weekday diagram.

I'd happily give it a go James, but I'm running a heavily modified version of the route so if it worked for me it might not help you much.
As a quick test though, will the scenario run on the default route?---as you're not running to Royston the only bit you're using that's been touched by Darren is where the line to Royston branches off.

Hello Gary,

I'll email you when I get a moment with the scenario, how modded is it, should be ok I'd imagine?

I havent tried it on the default route as it won't work on there (or I'd imagine it wont) as I have a couple of AI using the Hitchin flyover (which is part of Darren's extension)

I would be more than willing to test the scenario for you. I'm 99.9% sure I have all the stock required and the route would be unmodified. However I would not be able to test it until about 4pm (GMT) this afternoon once I get home from work. Would that be acceptable?

I imagine it should work on my system, and I've a default copy of the DTG route in another installation of TS to test on too. For testing purposes I'd just route any *broken* services somewhere else---quite possibly worth doing a test on default to see if there's something in the merge/extension joint that's not usually a problem, but is exposed by this particular scenario.

Same here, no problems at all.

Too early to say with 100% certainty, but it suggests the scenario's fine, the cause of your problem being elsewhere.

Thank you very much for the test reports,

Having done some further investigations I've nailed it down to the AP Class 321, having had a go with a different train, and passing the 321 at speed it locks up. I'll have to wait until I get a PC upgrade I think, I struggle with the Met Line (FPS issues) as well.

Thanks again for your help guys most appreciated!

Something else that doesn't help you....it runs fine on the RSC default route, albeit with services reported by the editor as missing portals routed to the Moorgate Portal instead.

The 321 per se, or just that particular livery? It could even be a general overload of your system due to all the scripting and playing about with another item of stock reduces the load enough to make it work. Yeah, I'm pedantic and awkward but it's still too early for any of the 3 of us to *prove* conclusively that 'x' is why it a falls over for you.

As a quick and dirty test, can you install a new copy of Darren's re-worked route in a different folder and try it in that clean copy?

Hi James,

Thanks for sending along the file. I've also been able to run it without any problem, I'm afraid (not really sad about that - it's a cracking little run). Photographic proof in the attached image :)
