Re: Northern Lines Electric Route Release Stream 23/12/2019
This is the best thing I've heard all week. The problem with this forum is the the amount of bile for anything payware. It always amuses me because I've spent more on subscription payments to UKTS over three years than I have on ATS for one year, yet I've got a lot more content from the latter! You don't have to like ATS or VP, but for me, they're the go to sites for train sim content these days.

Re: Northern Lines Electric Route Release Stream 23/12/2019
We've already done the arguing and indignation, but....
The problem wasn't/isn't/never has been with anybody wanting to charge for their work, but with the way ATS have done it. *Hiding* freeware behind a *paywall* is sneaky, quite possibly/most probably not illegal but certainly immoral in the eyes of many. Call us old fashioned, but if you want money for something be honest about it; don't say it's free because all you're paying for is the right to have access to it.
You've spent money on UKTS subscriptions, but what you've downloaded is available to all the tight fisted *anti-payware* brigade--a UKTS subscription just gives you more bandwidth, it's not mandatory for ANY item in the UKTS library.
If you want to support ATS, fine...it's your choice, no skin off my, or anybody else's nose etc, so you carry on spending your money exactly as you like. I have to ask though...why the need to defend ATS and VP? Nobody has attacked VP, or rather Thomas, for using the ATS OHLE; it's only been pointed out that because of how many people in here view ATS, and the seemingly polar opposite findings from VP's facebook page that the true impression of the reaction to use of the ATS OHLE cannot be accurately judged, or at least would be very hard to do so.
You try having a dig at AP (Armstrong Powerhouse, a well known, much respected, payware provider in case you haven't come across them) and see how much support you get in your battle against the evil payware stuff.sandy130674 wrote:The problem with this forum is the the amount of bile for anything payware

Do not swear at me. I only stated what my opinion is about this forum, and you have confirmed this by resorting to bad language. My experiences in train simulator have been vastly improved by both freeware and payware, and the addition of ATS, AP and VP have enhanced the availability of high quality rolling stock and routes, such as the wonderful Blackpool North route. If you think about it, you wouldn't expect to have a fully functioning model railway for zero outlay, and if people weren't willing to pay anything for the hobby, you wouldn't have a model railway shop to cater for the hobby.
I will not be returning to this forum as I'm finding a handful of people have become so reactionary to certain websites - it's becoming impossible to have a calm discussion. Bye bye.

I am presuming that your comments re "swearing" and "bad language" are referring to gptech's reply to your posting...
If that is the case, could you please tell me where he "swears" and where he has posted "bad language" ? I have read Gary's post several times and fail to find either !

The bad language was removed in line with the code of conduct.

Derek, I used the word made famous by the Sex Pistols in 1977, the resulting court case ruling in favour of the Sex Pistols so the use of the word when someone is talking rubbish can be considered valid.
There's never been an argument about AP or VP pushing the boundaries of the game to give us more features; why are you confusing an observation that because of the polarisation of viewpoints regarding ATS an accurate picture of the mood of the average TS user is very hard to determine with an attack on them or the work they release?sandy130674 wrote:the addition of ATS, AP and VP have enhanced the availability of high quality rolling stock and routes,

As much as I agree with charging for work on assets which let’s face it we don’t expect developers to work for free in the hobby of train sim. I reckon if ATS dropped the price of the OHLE pack to say 4,99 it would sell a lot more and get more people into the website. As soon as anyone hears 9,99 or let’s face it “a tenner” it puts people off.
Granted I am all for realism who isn’t after all that’s the point of the simulation world it does come at a price. I guess it’s a case of 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Chaddock Engineering\lmr signals\RailNetwork\signals\UK Semaphore\boxes tele batt\batterybox1d17jan14.bin
Checked with RWTools and I'm missing this, any ideas where it's from? Doesn't seem to be in any Chaddock stuff on UKTS.
Thanks

I have been advised that the asset is most likely in the Esthwaite route.

Hi all,
Has anyone had any problems with some signals not showing? The ones at Preston and Blackpool are showing but none between the station. I believe I've got all the required routes having spent quite a few quid in the sale.
Thanks
Jon
