DTG Retiring Virgin Trains

Whilst DTG are withdrawing the Virgin branded stock I'm not sure why they are removing the route from sale?

Virgin don't own the NWC Railway and without branding it is no different than WCMLoShap
Maybe it will get a makeover and be released in an InterCity condition - the remodelling of Crewe station to the layout in the game took place in BR Days

The decision is a done deal as far as the deadline of 6th of December is concerned. What happens after that is down to DTG.

If there was legal action pending this thread would have been locked long ago and the usual rules about restarting the discussion would be being enforced.

As noted in my previous post, these agreements are complex and will contain clauses that deal with either entity ceasing to exist.

I don't think there's anything particularly remarkable about the 6th December. It's just the day before Virgin Trains franchise ends and they stop working as a railway operating company.

Presumably it's all part of shutting things down neatly.

My advice would be to buy the DLC while you can and spend no more time worrying about it as there's nothing we can do about it and probably not much DTG can do either. Whether the stock and routes come back unbranded or with different stock is known to DTG only. Polite requests to them may help, but we may have to learn to live in a world without the North Wales route in TS. I don't think that will be too hard to do. In any case at some point we are going to have to learn to live with all TS stock and routes withdrawn from sale, as I can't believe that DTG will want it to compete with TSW for ever.

A sad indictment of today's society is highlighted by the *complaints* expressed being not "why should new users be denied a pretty nice route and rolling stock", but "once it's gone nobody new can see just how wonderful my reworks are"
I'm sure that's not the underlying reason for the "anger", but it sure could be read that way......

The 175 was never going anywhere as its part of South Wales Coastal.

It's included with both then, since North Wales Coastal has the 175 and 158 in addition to the 221.

What’s done is done. Everyone has had the time / warning to get the stock and I'm sure re-skins will appear.

It’s got my 100% wish since my first simulator in 1968 (BBC Micro) to have Seven Junction Signal Box. YEY!

I purchased, from the famous (infamous) BR Junk Shop just Euston Station in 1968 the diagram for this box which has been on my wall at home ever since.
At the time, I didn’t even know where it was!! But soon learnt of its importance as, now, the World’s largest working mechanical signal box (long may it reign)

I really can't see DTG just giving up on what must be a route and rolling stock pack still selling well, so I for one expect them to return after a rework--just like the real 390s will after December's refurb under Avanti West Coast.

What that man said, I would be surprised if they just didn't re-release everything except the 47, after the new branding comes out, provided they can get a licence that is?

I think you have your dates somewhat askew. I bought my Acorn Atom (precursor to the BBC Micro) in 1979, but used my first programmable calculator (a Texas Instruments one) in 1974. As a deputy head of a Maths department, I equipped a computer lab with BBC Micros in 1982 (released the year before), with programs stored on a rudimentary disk drive (all of 400kb, which cost the school £390!). There was a rudimentary train simulator around at the time, but I cannot recall getting very far with it.

They could easily re-relase the 47 in a BR era IC Swallow livery (for example with a slightly backdated version of the route itself)

The 47 model made for the Virgin Trains pack is getting a re-release as part of the Welsh Marches route (in 'WCRC' livery with 'Bossman' branding) - as seen in publicity images and the manual for the latter, and confirmed by Bossman Games on their livestream.
