Haven’t used the editor in a while...
Does it matter if I open TS in 32 or 64 flavour if I’m doing some route edits???

Re: Editor 32 v 64
I was editing some signals on the Netherfield Nottingham route in 64bit without problem a week or so back

No, the 64bit editor now works properly--no more garbling of the Tracks.bin file.
Usual caution still applies though: back up first.

Great, thanks both
Re: Editor 32 v 64
Frustrating...
No elevation data on laid track, some panels with sleepers but no rails...
I remember why I stopped using TS - PC no longer up to the job

What are the specs?rkk01 wrote:PC no longer up to the job
Re: Editor 32 v 64
E8400 cpu running at 3.3GHz
6gb RAM
SSD
NVIDIA GTX 660 gpu
Win7
Annoyingly, I have a replacement m/b, cpu & ram, but haven’t got around to fitting. I opted for water cooling instead of a traditional heat sink and fan... not a complex job to fit, but the necessary case mods have enough inertia to stall the project

To my eyes the 6Gb RAM looks like the week link here, especially for the 64 bit version, of course. From all I've seen, 16 Gb is the new minimum.rkk01 wrote:E8400 cpu running at 3.3GHz

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

Re: Editor 32 v 64
E8400 is likely to make it a bit sluggish, though possibly manageable with low enough settings (and patience!).

Re: Editor 32 v 64
I'd also go with the CPU being the weak bit...it's a 2 core model, dating from 2008. The amount of RAM is on the small side, 8GB minimum for a 64bit system to be able to take advantage of what 64bit computing brings, but, as Alan has stated, 16Gb should now be seen as the *sweet spot"---give it 12 months and that will probably have grown to 32....
