JT Midland Mainline scenario 1Q34 Derby RTC - Hull

Post by earwigo »

I have bought a number of AP Enhancement Packs in an effort to be able to run the above scenario of the NR test train HST, but have not yet been able to get the scenario running. I have RW tools 2019, and am wanting to look at the scenario to see what is missing, so I can buy it. I click Edit Scenario but get the attached error message. I would be grateful for any help, please.
Thanks.
Stuart.

Right click the shortcut for RW Tools and choose "Run as administrtator"
See if that gets you up and running.

Thanks. That worked. I'm still puzzling out about what I need in order to run the scenario. I hoped that by clicking edit scenario, it might have shown what is missing, which I could then buy. If you could help me a bit more I'd be very grateful.

When you click on Edit Scenario you will have a list of trains in the scenario

Highlight each train in turn and you will get a message if anything is missing - make a note of it

AP scenario Packs generally come with a separate Extra Stock file (mostly reskins of default locos/wagons) that needs to be installed for the scenarios to properly work. Easy to forget in a long list of stuff.

No, afraid not.
I can't find out what's missing, so I can buy it and then be able to run this scenario.
Sorry to be a nuisance, but would like to get the NR test train running!
Many thanks to everyone who has responded above.
Stuart.

Requirements as above, as mentioned by USRailFan don't forget the extra stock packs and branding packs too from AP.

Hope you get it sorted.

OK...get the scenario loaded in RW Tools and you should see this:

Image

In the 2nd window from the left, the one with the heading "Consists", click n the first one in the list and you'll find the vehicles that make up that train are displayed in the next window to the right, "Selected Consist"

Image

If anything is missing you'd get a warning box appear, like this:

Image

Work through the list and you'll find if there is anything missing. Make a note of it, the important bit of information is the full path to the item's .bin file which you'll see in that warning box.

RW Tools checks for the presence of a .bin file of the right name, located in that specific location, so if the routine finds nothing missing and the scenario still won't load it's because of something else. If that's the case make a note of the exact message the game gives you and post that back in here.

Hi gptech,
Here is a screenshot of RW tools, which is as far as I can get. I can't find the window showing missing items.
What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks.

If you're not getting a "missing items" warning then you ain't missing any!....or at least no .bin files are missing.
What does the game tell you when you try loading the scenario?

If there's missing stock, there should usually be a popup at the start of a scenario telling you what's missing (or some of it, since AFAIK it lists all occurences of a missing stock item, so if you've got a train with say 20 HTAs and a Class 66 and all missing you'll get one listing for the Class 66 and 20 for the HTAs..)

OK, looking at the screenshot in the original post - isn't that just an RW_Tools error message that might pop up from time to time. Looks like an RW_Tools thumbnail might possibly be missing, IIRC they are in a separate file now. If so it should not have any impact on the actual scenario itself.

Which was resolved, or worked round in the second post in the thread--a permissions error.
It's reasonable to assume that he's turned to RW Tools because the game can't load the scenario, which is why we need to know what message the game gives.
