Some 5-10 minutes into the scenario I completely lose the loco: increasing the regulator does nothing, I even can't hear any whistle sound. The loco runs further for a mile or two without power and then an AI collision pops up.
I suspect this is not a scenario issue per se, but the limitations of TS's sound system or more probably the abilities of specific sound cards or on-board sound. But scenarios may have an effect, because much may depend on the quantity and types of AI traffic in the vicinity.

In the past I experienced this on two routes - the West of Scotland Lines and West Coast Main Line (North). In one case it only occurred using the Black 5 steam loco with the Steam Sounds Supreme sound enhancements, the other was with the Class 40 diesel from Railright. Both were at specific locations and after a lot of head scratching I found that editing the route and removing about 50% of the sound domes of twittering birds or quitely rumbling factories (none of which you would actually hear from a pssing train, of course) instantly solved the problem.

So I suspect it is simply an inability to cope with huge numbers of different sound files simultaneously.

Hi
I've got a problem with the WD 2-8-0 on the Weardale Teeesdale route, it's the military movements scenario, the train is already moving, but when I try to slow down just after Durham, I can't get it to slow down at all, it just carries on accelerating. The locomotive is a W^D Black one

The prototype had poor brakes. That's why it failed its trial on the S&D!

Hi Michael,
How are you driving Legacy or Realistic mode, are the brakes actually being applied (check by looking at the gauge in cab), were the brakes previously operating correctly before you had the problem?

How come the loco is a WD Black one, it should be a WD Khaki one in that scenario, have you exchanged it?

The scenario was working fine when the testing was carried out.

Hi Rob
I was running in legacy mode, the train was already moving when the scenario started when I tried to slow down at the junction, it just wouldn't slow down at all.
I then made a new consist using the same loco and the same wagons, this ran from Durham to Darlington using the same routing in QD and this time it the locomotive worked fine.

Hi again Michael, yes the scenario does start with the loco running (this is intended) and with the Regulator at 100% open, just a thought, did you close the Regulator before you tried operating the brakes?

I have just fully run this scenario and have no problem at any time operating the brakes. :-?

No worries Michael, been there myself.

The WD Austerity is a very powerful loco, so would give you problems if trying to apply the brakes with the Regulator open at 100%. He-he.

OK, so I updated the chuff.proxy file, corrected two transitions there (one around 30mph, the other 38mph), I think all is quite smooth now. If you're interested I can send you the file, but of course it's up to you as this is a matter of personal taste. But I insist the gap at 38mph was there and it just didn't sound right... as a beta tester I'm sure I would report this.

And one more thing - there was a weird crackling in the reverser loop sound when you moved the reverser all the way from mid to full. Looked at the sound file and although it's supposed to be looped it had a small pause at the end (which is really not the best approach to create loops ;) )!! Removed it and it sounds much better now. Can share this update too if you're interested.

OK, I'll make Matt (SSS) aware of your findings.

Tend to agree, was considering making it louder during all the changes I was making yesterday but didn't get to it...
