4K

Post by david1 »

Just a quick question, looking at buying a new PC in the near future, amongst other hardware I am looking at the RTX2060 Graphics card which supports 4k, thinking of also getting a new monitor to support it, but wondering does TS2020 look any better on a 4k monitor, if not will probably stick with my current one.

I have a GTX2070 video card with a 43" Philips 4K monitor. However if I wish to run it as 4K in the Nvidia settings it will only get a refresh rate of 30Hz rather than the 60Hz when running it in PC mode.

I don't know much about monitors, so maybe someone will be able to give you better information on how to run TS2020 on 4k monitors.

To get 60 Hz at 4K, you either need HDMI 2.0 or Displayport monitor cables. Various revisions of HDMI cables supports widely different display options... HDMI 1.4 only supports up to 30Hz!

For me, the ONLY way to run Train Simulator nowadays is using 4K with ALL antialiasing options turned off! The difference in sharpness/crispiness is simply unbelievable... :)

Got my 4k monitor set up and really impressed at how much better the picture is, added to that also getting 50% higher frame rate with I5 9600k processor, and RTX2060 graphics card, might have to look at limiting the frame rate, getting 90fps on north wales coastal and 70/80 on WCML north and over Shap, does anyone else limit the frame rate and if so to what?

I am using Displayport monitor cable, but still only getting 30Hz for 4K. With a Nvidia GTX2070 video card.

Mike
Using display port I was not getting 4k, as referenced above I picked up an hdmi cable and put that on and hey presto 4k and 60hz refresh. Now I need to tweak things a bit to get Ts how I like it.

Yes of course,
I could have used a 4k 60hz display port cable somehow the image seems better than hdmi.
