TS2020 Freeware routes half missing scenery

Post by tubemad »

Hello all,

Opened TS2020 recently, not tried the new upgrade from TS2019 yet, however I've noticed my add on route's are now half missing scenery? North Wales Coast BR Blue is half missing assets, Suburban Glasow the same which certainly had all when I last used it, and also South London to Brighton had all asset's, and now only the track, platform edges and a very very small amount of buildings, like one or two, are visible. Rest is just grass.

I load up a payware add-on Swansea Coastal, and North Wales Coast Crewe - Holyhead, all scenery showing fine :-?

Wondering why freeware route's have suddenly stopped when they were fine before, with no changes made personally. Any one else had this?

Any help appreciated!

James.

Not much help, but I have lost the front stonework of tunnels when leaving New Street on XC route since the upgrade. Not sure if anything else is missing.

James

When we had the last upgrade, if a freeware route required assets from a RSC/DTG routes, could it be the AP files need to be unpacked again???.

Just a thought.

They should never need to be unpacked in the first place.

Hi,

I have this with 'home made' changes to routes, using freeware.
Happy ( or not) that i'm not alone with this.
But no solution , sorry to be not helpful.

thx

As a co-author of NWC-BRBlue, might I suggest that you run again the .bat file in your assets that we provided. That copies .Geo files from within the .ap archives to folders created outside. Updating to TS2020 may have had the effect of a file verify, which removes all "official" files from outside the .ap archive. The folders created outside should still be there with the .bin files and the reskinned texture files, just needing the blueprint files.
If you have removed the .bat file, then you can redownload the whole route from https://www.wotawallysbits.co.uk/nwc-brblue

Nick

PS This didn't happen for me, but then I have a "vanilla" version of Railworks that communicates with Steam, and a working version off line, to which I copied the new TS2020 files. Avoids all those difficulties!

Well I am one who has to unpack them as the game does not see it on my installation, don't ask me why but that is how it is?

Certainly Martin, but as you're one of the oddities the words "should never" are still true, the important word being the "should"
Have you uncompressed that drive they're on and tried a sample without unpacking it?

Hi, as I said earlier I have lost the tunnel fronts on my XC route but it seems only at New Street. When I go into route editor and put my cursor where the fronts should be they appear, when I remove the cursor they disappear. They use to be there in game, so I am wondering has the 2020 upgrade changed something. I have re-installed the route and run the .bat file but the problem still exists. Any help would be appreciated.

When I have had issues with stuff showing in Editor when the cursor is over it and not in game I am sure I just amended a setting for detail level I think to a higher number and it was then fine in game

Thanks for that Chris, I'd forgotten I had lowered some settings a couple of weeks ago to get a scenario to work. I have been playing on those settings ever since!

Interesting, didn't see a .bat for North Wales Coast BR Blue, I tried South London to Brighton after, and it didn't show up properly so put 2+2 together

Just tried unpacking the SouthLondon Assets (London to Brighton doesn't need to as that doesn't have an .ap package) just on the off chance, but still my South London to Brighton is scenery-less. Tried London to Brighton again and scenery is still there showing fine.

Tried Suburban Glasgow as I forgot that route, and that actually works fine, so I can assume it's South London to Brighton that doesn't want to work? All it needs is London to Brighton and South London Lines so I'm not sure that it can be 'uncompatible' with TS2020, especially when both routes work fine separately. :-?

The file NWC_reskins_v1_0.bat should be in your Assets folder, unless you have deleted it.

In which case, pick it up from my GoogleDrive at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UOTpQX ... sp=sharing. As it is a .bat file, you may have a problem getting passed your firewall!

Yes Gary I am well aware of the context, as for my drive I can't decompress it.

Hi Martin, providing the drive isn't nearly full, if you right click the drive in my computer and choose properties there should be a tick box for allow windows to compress drive to save space. If you untick that box it should uncompress it but it will need a fair bit of free space to complete.
