The 195s and 331s are already in service
195s work Manchester to Barrow and Windermere

331s work Liverpool - Blackpool and Doncaster - Leeds

And the Northern 142s should end this year or early next year

Peter, ,,,Yes, I know. What the guard meant was, those units were not yet in service on the Manchester -Southport route. :(

I understand that the 142s on this route are not scheduled for withdrawal until early 2020 . Whether that happens or not, we wait and see ? Promises have been made before. :-?

*dusts off his anorak*

The new DTG Class 142 has the earlier 4-piece concertina doors as seen on buses of the period, while the AP-Waggonz variant has the later two-piece doors. Pleasing to have a little detail variation for making up four-car sets.

Soo... Basically, verdict is, worth buying, but those knowledgeable about editing files should hack into the loco files to set it up for the AP sounds instead of the standard ones?

Yes, I pointed that out on the previous page

I'm unsure if the 195s will work on that route or if they will continue with 150, 156 + 158 units - the route is relatively slow

And I also mentioned "142s should end this year or early next year" maybe I should have said 2020 instead of Next Year? :(

Actually the Waggonz version has both door types!

Peter
Yes I suspect that you may be right !! :( Still, Sprinters are far better than Pacers in every respect. :D

Also, thanks for pointing out that the AP Waggonz version has both door types. I hadn't noticed that. It also has two types of destination displays.

I have tried the AP 142 substituted into one of the DTG version's Workshop Scenarios. Very impressed ! I had forgotten how good the AP 142 is, even with the very minor model flaws.

I have had the AP version for a few years but I hardly drive it - spent 18 years at Piccadilly on the traincrew side.

142014 was good as I could say I drove a 5x5 - one of the cars is 55555 :)

I have the Major Wales Designs Class 142 revamp pack installed, and it makes the AP/Waggonz 142 look like a completely new model IMO. The DTG version is just way too basic for my liking.

So would you recommend the Major Wales Design 142 revamp then ? I have downloaded it, but not yet installed it as I cannot quite work out what the differences are ? :-?

Yes I'd recommend it. The differences are subtle, but noticeable.
