To make it more interesting they could of included Eastleigh but maybe thats to much work for them,I know theres at least three free routes that include Eastleigh made by other people Southern lines,Hampshire lines steam era and another I cant remember admittedly they are work in progress.

I like the idea behind this route, but it would have been better if it was set in the 70/80's,,

Then you could have the 4 Cig/Big,,4 Vep, also Bournemouth would be more interesting as you would have shunting moves, using 4 TC'sand adding either 33's or class 73'ED for trains going onto Weymouth, during rush hour the ED's would push the trains through to Waterloo.

The 4 REP's went into a lay over road, on arrival from Waterloo then when the Weymouth Waterloo Train arrived while the incoming loco was being removed the 4 REP was attached to the rear.

There were also some Speed Link freight trains to Bournemouth, steel trains to Hamworthy,Oil trains from the Furzbrook, cement trains to Poole,

Long distance Passenger Trains still ran mostly Class 47 hauled, although the odd 37 could turn up on them on Summer Saturdays

It's not as if DTG would have to make any thing new ,it's all in the Steam Down loads section except for a 4 REP,which is being made

Not quite - have a good read of this,

https://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic ... 8&t=112647

especially;

c) The statement will not cause actual loss to the author - this means that in the case of payware, your opinion should not lead people not to buy the product based solely on your opinion,

Approaching from the opposite point of view, whilst the route is not very long, it is pretty well modelled and actually looks like a railway with appropriate clutter, lineside detail etc. Southampton to Bournemouth is a fairly logical run length, and does stand a chance of being extended. Good to see the short line to Lymington and the extra around Southampton (though I would have liked the full extension down past the old LWSR to the docks :) ).

As with all routes, it is down to the individual whether or not this is value for money. For me it is and was an instant purchase, and, unlike the last 2 routes I have bought, not an almost instant refund request 8) .

Seriously, I don't think it would matter what route was modelled, how long the route was, how accurate etc. etc., the same comments are going to apply;

- day 1 purchase for me
- keeping my money in my wallet
- a sale item only
- I won't buy it
- better freeware available
- etc.

That is the beauty of this sim - it is all things to all people - job done DTG - and all other providers :D

Just in case someone does a scenario for this, The REP was on the London end. The 33 attached to the Weymouth end and left the REP in the platform where it shunted to the sidings before returning to the up platform and awaiting the Weymouth portion that would couple directly to the rear and detach the 33.

If DTG had set the route in the 70/80s then they would not have had any of "their" stock to place with it apart from the 4Vep. 47 and 33.
The 4 Cig units were rare on the Bournemouth line beyond Woking.

It is ok saying somebody makes this and somebody else is making that but it is what DTG Can place on it's own route for them to sell it.
They don't release a route and say "get some stock from xyz" to run the scenarios and third party stock would not find it's way in to a Workshop Scenario.

DTG makes add-ons for the plain joe who just has Steam add-ons and nothing else.
A chap on the DTG Forums does not use 3rd party stuff because of "Viruses" :D

After 50 years and a stroke later I nearly got it right :lol:

And also DTG do a Blue 73ED it's in their blue pack, and a Southern 09 shunter

Well looking at the price @£17.99 it's worth getting,

I can always make up trains using the 1970/80's loco's and stock on it

You would think people have the right to complain. Yet as soon as anyone dares to complain or find fault with a certain 3rd party there are members in here who can get in the thread quick enough to then start targeting anyone who dare say anything bad about the 3rd party’s work.
Funny thing is the members who complain about other members complaining about this certain 3rd party work are the ones doing just the same in this thread. Bit of a coincidence. As always one rule for DTG and one rule for a certain 3rd party.

Yes, one might describe this add-on as very ''underwhelming'' unfortunately, however, having travelled this route numerous times in real life back in the 1980s, it wasn't very exciting anyway. Freightliner had a small outpost at Poole (Hamworthy Goods Yard & Docks) and of course the domestic terminal at Millbrook and the Deep Sea Maritime place, as well as the export car terminal and various other areas. Elling Wharf at Totton, Marchwood Military Port and the oil terminal at Fawley could also have been added, in fact, DTG could have done a huge route just covering the sprawling Southampton area on its own if they'd have wanted to as it was a hive of industry, and of course we already have the iconic Class 07 shunter from SHG which would be very home from home. Another missed opportunity, and my wallet will stay firmly shut, oh well....

Cheerz. Steve.

Taken literally, doesn't this mean that we are not allowed to point out issues with payware routes since that might lead people not to buy them? That seems pretty draconian to me. (Perhaps we should call that "the DTG clause". :D )

This stops right now or the thread gets locked. There was no need to drag up the sticky thread since the moderators do monitor posts and any that fall foul of it will get binned and the authors will receive appropriate sanctions.

Well, I had been rather sceptical about this route, but the inclusion of the A2 (Something I don't already have) and the Lymington Branch are making it more appealing. As it's another modern route with modern EMUs forming the bulk of the scenario traffic it won't be an instant purchase, but in a few sales' time, when it's reduced a bit, I reckon I'll be buying it at some point. It looks like it could be fun to play with Slam Door EMUs on it, and it doesn't have the sheer length of Southampton - Weymouth, so it will probably run better on my PC and scenarios will be shorter.

And it'll be even more fun playing with Forerunner's (of this parish) forthcoming REP and TC units on it when they come out!
