Mark 1 Coach Reskin Pack shape error?

Post by RobertM »

Evening,

I have just installed the 'Mark 1 Coach Reskin Pack', file ID 26994, and when I come to place any of the coaches down in the editor it looks like a shape file error, as my screen goes crazy black until I remove the coach or dont look at it?

Any ideas why?

Like looking through a kaleidoscope?

That's usually seen with old reskins of locos who's .bin file doesn't include the wiper pairs reference to enable the "raindrops on windows" effects, but if those coaches now feature rain on the passenger view windows then they'd conflict with the older .bin files.
I'll grab a copy of the reskin pack overnight and have a look tomorrow night---unless somebody else knows the answer of course.

From 2011, so likely it uses the original shape file, and not the upgraded one that I think came with TS2012?

There are a couple of useful skins in the pack, the yellow breakdown ones are especially nice

I doubt any of the coaches in this pack we're discussing will work--or at least not using the supplied configuration.
They *borrow* the .GeoPcDx files from the Falmouth stock but locate them outside of the official containing folder so the kaleidoscope effect is probably the result of the DRM kicking in. It's an unusual way of doing things, and obviously worked 'way back when' . Easy enough to produce new .bin files, but that's not something we'd do (if we were intending to distribute them, no real problem if you do them for yourself) without the permission of the original creator--anybody in touch with him?

So how easy would it be to fix for just personal use/for others to fix for themselves?

Pretty simple, the hardest bit is working out a directory structure to make life easy for yourself. The Falmouth coaches are already 'mapped out' in a structure that works, so to start with it's simply a case of copying those supplied files/folders.
As the InterCity liveries are the ones needed I'll use that as an example.

Makes no difference which one you start with, but the BG is first in the alphabetical list so it's as good a place to start as any.
The default coaches are Chocolate and Crimson, but as the reskin uses the Chocolate variant as it's base there's no real need to consider the Crimson one---this snippet of information comes from opening the .bat file that's part of the installation and looking to see which .GeoPcDx it copies; right click the file, choose "Edit" and it opens in Notepad.
So, copy the ..\Assets\RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1BG\BR Chocolate folder and paste it into the same containing folder so you end up with
BR Chocolate
and
BR Chocolate - Copy
folders.
Rename that copy to
InterCity
Open the mk1bg.bin in that InterCity folder with RW Tools (or whatever editing tools you prefer) and right at the top of the document you'll see the name that's displayed in the "available stock" listing:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<cBlueprintLoader xmlns:d="http://www.kuju.com/TnT/2003/Delta" d:version="1.0">
	<Blueprint>
		<cWagonBlueprint>
			<Name d:type="cDeltaString">Mk1 Guard BR Chocolate</Name>
			<BrowseInformation>
				<iRailVehicleBlueprint-cBrowseRVInformation>
					<DisplayName>
						<Localisation-cUserLocalisedString>
							<English d:type="cDeltaString">Fal Mk1 Guard BR Chocolate</English>
Edit these two lines to whatever makes sense to you,

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<cBlueprintLoader xmlns:d="http://www.kuju.com/TnT/2003/Delta" d:version="1.0">
	<Blueprint>
		<cWagonBlueprint>
			<Name d:type="cDeltaString">Mk1 Guard InterCity</Name>
			<BrowseInformation>
				<iRailVehicleBlueprint-cBrowseRVInformation>
					<DisplayName>
						<Localisation-cUserLocalisedString>
							<English d:type="cDeltaString">Fal Mk1 Guard InterCity</English>
for example.

just below that is the reference to the numbering .dcsv file, the long list of possible running numbers. This points to the BR Chocolate folder so you can either use that or edit the reference to look at the .dcsv file that will be in the reskin's folder--

Code: Select all

					<NumberingList>
						<cCSVContainer>
							<CsvFile d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1BG\BR Chocolate\Coach\mk1_bg_numbering</CsvFile>
						</cCSVContainer>
					</NumberingList>
becomes

Code: Select all

					<NumberingList>
						<cCSVContainer>
							<CsvFile d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1BG\InterCity\Coach\mk1_bg_numbering</CsvFile>
						</cCSVContainer>
					</NumberingList>
in that case.

Under that comes a big chunk of stuff that doesn't need changing; references to the couplings and coupling audio but under that are two sections that deal with the bogies. Once again these reference the BR Chocolate folder, which is fine those bogies will still work, but as we're doing *easy* it's simple enough to just edit "BR Chocolate" to "InterCity" (no quotes in the editing!!) to keep everything just as the reskin comes.

The next bit to edit deals with the location of the textures that make up the displayed number, and the location of the .GeoPcDx file.
Strangely, the reskin doesn't point to a file for the number textures, so leave the two references for that as it is, but the .GeoPcDx reference must point to the InterCity folder:

Code: Select all

					<PrimaryNamedTextureSet>
						<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
							<BlueprintSetID>
								<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
									<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
									<Product d:type="cDeltaString">FalmouthBranch</Product>
								</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>

							<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1SK\BR Chocolate\Coach\Textures\Mk1_Digits_Chocolate.xml</BlueprintID>
						</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
					</PrimaryNamedTextureSet>
					<SecondaryNamedTextureSet>
						<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
							<BlueprintSetID>
								<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
									<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
									<Product d:type="cDeltaString">FalmouthBranch</Product>
								</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
							</BlueprintSetID>
							<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1SK\BR Chocolate\Coach\Textures\Mk1_Digits_Chocolate.xml</BlueprintID>
						</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
					</SecondaryNamedTextureSet>
					<GeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1BG\BR Chocolate\Coach\[00]MK1BG</GeometryID>
					<CollisionGeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1BG\BR Chocolate\Coach\[00]MK1BG</CollisionGeometryID>
becomes

Code: Select all

					<PrimaryNamedTextureSet>
						<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
							<BlueprintSetID>
								<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
									<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
									<Product d:type="cDeltaString">FalmouthBranch</Product>
								</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
							</BlueprintSetID>
							<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1SK\BR Chocolate\Coach\Textures\Mk1_Digits_Chocolate.xml</BlueprintID>
						</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
					</PrimaryNamedTextureSet>
					<SecondaryNamedTextureSet>
						<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
							<BlueprintSetID>
								<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
									<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
									<Product d:type="cDeltaString">FalmouthBranch</Product>
								</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
							</BlueprintSetID>
							<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1SK\BR Chocolate\Coach\Textures\Mk1_Digits_Chocolate.xml</BlueprintID>
						</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
					</SecondaryNamedTextureSet>
					<GeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1BG\InterCity\Coach\[00]MK1BG</GeometryID>
					<CollisionGeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1BG\InterCity\Coach\[00]MK1BG</CollisionGeometryID>
Save the file and then copy the reskin's Bogie and number files, plus the folder containing the textures, into the InterCity\Coach folder, overwriting any that are already there. You should now have a Falmouth Mk1 BG in InterCity livery...… :D ….but with a wee problem... :(

Image

If you don't want the number textures in there just remove the 2 references to the digits.bin file, if you just want them a more appropriate colour that'd need new textures producing which I'll happily do but it wouldn't be until the middle of next week before I could crack on with 'em.
The crest is also easy to get rid of, but does involve editing the .GeoPcDx file---don't panic, there's nothing to be scared of in there and just like the ,bin file all you're editing is a reference to a file's location so it's all in recognisable words!

Open the .GeoPcDx with RW Tools and scroll down, looking for

Code: Select all

			<TextureByName>
				<e d:type="cDeltaString">..\..\..\mk1sk\br chocolate\coach\textures\[00]logo01</e>
			</TextureByName>
Change this line to read:

Code: Select all

			<TextureByName>
				<e d:type="cDeltaString">..\..\..\mk1sk\br chocolate\coach\textures\[00]Blank_logo01</e>
			</TextureByName>
Save and you're nearly done, just that logo to put in place. The reskin comes with a blank logo, in the Textures folder for the SK is a logo01.TgPcDx file which has had the alpha channel recoloured to black to suppress it's display. Rename that file to Blank_logo01 and paste it into the ..\Assets\RSC\FalmouthBranch\RailVehicles\Passenger\MK1SK\BR Chocolate\Coach\Textures folder.
