AP Class 68 Enhancement Pack & Chiltern DVT

Post by TElsmore »

Hi all.

I have the above pack, and it is great, the sounds are fantastic, but I have found that it doesn't work with the Mk3 DVT. I was hoping to use the 68 to push a Chiltern Mk3 set, which it does do, but the engine remains at idle throughout, there is no sound of power being taken at all, which is a bit of a bummer.

I was wondering if any of you chaps or chappette's would know if it could be made to work, (I'm looking in your direction gptech! [emoji16]) before a fire off an email to AP.

Any help Is much appreciated, as always!

Cheers
Terrone

Would that be VP's MkIIIs and DVT?
Have you tried with more default coaches and DVT?

I have tried with the VP coaches, but using a default DVT.

Doesn't the EP pack put a tailed 68 into ETS mode without power? Pretty sure it does, not sure if you can change that? Edit: there are two versions one prefixed "Trail" so it must be an incompatibility with the dvt.

You could try putting the driver icon on the tailed 68 and set it up then drive the train from the DVT, however, I have had major difficulties with a 67 doing this and having the controls of the DVT locked out and nonresponsive.

Just tried both the hud and adv versions in the atw livery and the advanced version keys do not work fully so is undrivable, but the hud version is, but as you state there is no engine revving just the bogie whine. Is it not possible to make appropriate loco's compatible with the advanced version of the dvt's? I'm guessing that the new 67 EP will suffer the same fate? :-?

Ah...yes, you had a similar issue with an ATW liveried DVT Martin.
If I recall, we tracked that down to the DTG 68 not liking the advanced DVT but the UNI version worked OK rather than it being an issue stemming from the AP derived stock.

Yes, it was the 67 actually but yes that didn't like it either, but at least the 67 revved up when applying power, might drop a line to Rich and see if there is a possibility of a compatibility patch?

Hi all.

The 68 enhancement pack does work with the UNI Mk3 DVT, in that it does push the train and the controls in the DVT cab work, but the engine remains idle, no matter how much power one applies. I'm a bit gutted to be fair, the sounds of the 68 Enhancement Pack are outstanding, too good for me to return the 68 to it's original state. Not to worry.

I have seen a few possts on AP's facebook page, asking him if the 67 Enhancement Pack will be compatible with the Mk3 DVT, but he doesn't seem to have replied to any of them, so i'm not holding out much hope to be honest.

Just to be thorough, will it work with another loco? I still think it's more a DTG class 68 issue than anything the AP enhancement has introduced. I'll check with a default 68 when I get home tonight..

It would seem that while the 68 will work with another 68, it will not work with anything else, i tried it with a 66. Not that it could in real life anyway :D

The 68's can only work within class and with the 88's, i read that their MW system is a new kind of digital giggery-pokery.

As for the DRS 37's and 47's, while they can do it, the loco's don't like each other and 'fight' to lead.

Recently, GBRF trailed using a 20 and a 47 in multiple, seen a couple of vids of it on youtube, and it seemed to work ok. However, i digress.......
