Re: ECML merge - out now
I wonder how Alan and Pete would feel if some kind person was to upload this to another site for everyone to download for free. Can't see how they could complain too much as that person would only be doing the same as what they have done.

Re: ECML merge - out now
I find it funny all the people defending any negative comments about this ATS site are brand new accounts. What a coincidence

Well he wouldn’t be able to say anything as it is freeware and not his work so I can see it happening soon tbh.Merlin75 wrote:I wonder how Alan and Pete would feel if some kind person was to upload this to another site for everyone to download for free. Not you or any of the regulars here the one where it is typing paragraph after paragraph about why we should sign up to that website and rubbishing any other claims of non praise towards the website.

Rosschris10, there's no one posting on this thread who's joined after 2016.
Re: ECML merge - out now
As a point of fact merging routes with dissimilar origins has been possible for several years. I released my first merge in 2014 and offered the 'tool' to anyone who had the technical nouse to use it (not end-user friendly). I hadn't heard of the American guy but it doesn't surprise me nor does this latest merge stuff.
Points to bear in mind -
So anyone who fancies doing route merges is welcome to use my tool (some technical knowledge required
) but it is not 'easy' and I'd recommend thinking long and hard about whether the 'end-user' is going to really use the end-result.
Neil
Points to bear in mind -
- large routes are only runnable because of the 64-bit release (credit to DTG) - my merge from Cambs-KingsCross-Grantham was severely limited in terms of AI etc until x64 and I hate to think how minimal the current run up to York would have been under x32
editing such a large route (tracks.bin is currently just under 23mb) is time-consuming - a track save takes 7 minutes and scenario saves are 2.5 minutes
setting up a clean-working AI-filled scenario of any length is a ball-breaking task - you can't 'just make a quick change' and tracing conflicts is an order of magnitude nastier than doing it on smaller routes
many end-users don't have the time or desire to do a 'realistic' multi-hour scenario - I'll do a KX to York mail run - but how many users want to spend 2 hours in the dark watching mailbags?
merging two routes set in the same time period is one thing - but merging and back- or forward-dating them at the same time takes a lot of work!
So anyone who fancies doing route merges is welcome to use my tool (some technical knowledge required
