In theory, yes; one potential sticking point though may be the panto animation but it's definitely worth a shot.
I ran the old freeware 86 which was ok in it's day but is very long in the tooth.
I threw a .bin together to try and use both models as you suggested, ran OK but no panto animation at all.

Pre TOPS and Rail Blue 86 reskins.... https://ln.sync.com/dl/30f2cd9c0/sdwfxb ... n-5ma8sazt

They should work, any bother just shout at me. Instructions are in the .zip, but it's pretty standard fare.

Thanks for those Gary, just wondering is there a way to get the headcodes to show dominoes?

These'll have to do for now; useless at night as they don't glow at all. I'll see if I can suss summatt out over the holiday, but if anyone else wants to have a go feel free!

It'd help if I gave some instructions on how to use 'em.......

@ gives the domino itself, the black sections are ~
So, the number of the locomotive in the screenshot is @~~@86005

Thanks Gary. Both look great and are working well.

Thanks Gary for the domino 86, all works fine, and looks spot on :o . If you can get them to glow at night, that would be great, but as I drive mainly in daylight it's not a problem, in the daytime they look fine.

Many thanks, Richard

I have lights sort of working...in as much as they're on or off, just like the headcode they don't turn off with a change of direction...

Image

A question though..... are we looking at producing a headcode blind with dominoes on it, that wouldn't be bright anyway...or..a version of the 86 without the headcode facility but featuring dominos instead?...In other words, did locos run with dominos as a headcode blind item or were they fitted as a more of a sealed beam light?

Hi Gary, I am sorry if I have wasted your time but i have just been looking at what photos I have of 86's and it seems that before mid to late 1979 most had blinds set to 0000 and during 1979 most were platted over with sealed lights and painted yellow. I like the black domino you have done but not now sure if they actually had marker lights on a black background (although class 83's and 84's did).

Just out of interest Gary, bearing in mind I have no idea what is involved, can the black background be changed to yellow?

Yeah, that's a simple bit of 'colouring in' ---- the longest bit would be finding just where in the texture maps to there.

I notice when you use the RSC 86 with the Headcode some of the Headcode Letters seem to be the wrong size

Yeah, the S is a wee bit bigger....the Alpha needs editing to make the black S a e bit smaller---you have DXTBmp, which would be a grand tool to use to export the alpha so that it can be edited in your image editor.

Richard, a quick test and the colour change of the plate is relatively simple....

Image

The yellow is from the domino dot texture itself, the body texture controls the colour of the dot itself. Back to front, I know, because it's the alpha channel that determines which bits of the domino are seen. I'll have to have a ponder over the best way to go with this one..... :o
