New UK Route Announced.

Re: New UK Route Announced.
Very unexpected, but a great route. Huddersfield-Stalybridge is very under-rated scenically. I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm glad we've finally got an official West Yorkshire route DLC too.
It also paves the way for a future DLC for a Deltic.

Did freight normally run on this route? I see no freight is mentioned in the description

Re: New UK Route Announced.
I would have imagined there would have been freight on the line back in the 80's especially as it was a main east to west route between two major conurbations. Maybe it will be in some later DLC?
We had freight with the GWE and other routes but none on the WSR and it looks like none on this which does seem odd.

most freight used the other route over the pennies via Littleborough and the summit Tunnel.

Re: New UK Route Announced.
That was the other route from Bradford, Halifax and Hebden Bridge. There was loads of freight from Man Vic up and down Miles Platting, empty DMUs and locos to Newton Heath Depot for refuelling and light maintenanc. Carriage Sidings at Cheetham Hill and Queens Road, plus the Red Bank Parcels and Newspaper Sidings, which ran various trains up to Leeds, York and Sheffield via Huddersfield daily. In 1983 you had Class 56s on MGR and 40s/45s on Freightliners through Man Vic, plus tanks for Stanlow from Leeds on 47s, 25s on various trip workings, ballast, etc, Collyhurst St had a Tilcon Aggregates Depot during this time. From Stalybridge you have the junction down to Guide Bridge Depot and Dewsnapp Sidings for all trains north through Huddersfield to Healey Mills Yard and Leeds. There was a Power Station at Thornhill just past Mirfield and Stanningley Iron Works and the Goods Yard at Whitehall Road just as you come off the Mirfield Line at Leeds before going into the Station, and of course, light engine and carriage sidings at both Neville Hill and Holbeck Depots, it's a veritable smorgasbord of freight possibilities on this route, pity we won't get the goods vehicles needed for scenarios.david1 wrote:most freight used the other route over the pennies via Littleborough and the summit Tunnel.msey0002 wrote:Did freight normally run on this route? Re: New UK Route Announced.
Not forgetting the Bury line class 504 EMU's .
I've kept away from TSW but this may well sway me into making a purchase ,Though I would of preferred this route in TS instead especially given the huge catalogue of loco's and stock already available for that .
Maybe freight for this will come in a later addon pack , A 25 and 40 would be nice along with some MK1's including newspaper and parcels vans as those returning empty red bank trains where the stuff of legends .
Victoria was a hive of activity late at night sending out trains of newspapers to various destinations .
Some nice 1983 footage of Victoria and Newton heath on this youtube video : https://youtu.be/H1q8IZ7VtNM?t=136
Some freight at Victoria 1983 : https://youtu.be/VgI1WKn9zF4?t=7

Re: New UK Route Announced.
Well there are certainly a lot of possibilities for expansion packs for this route. I hope some freight does come soon and that we see some more loco's. As a first generation DMU fan I would also love to see some more DMU classes, I get the feeling some people think the class 101 is the only DMU that existed but in 1983 Derby 108's would have been seen on the route plus possibly class 104, 105, 111 and maybe the odd Calder Valley 110.
Still this is a step in the right direction and I hope this is the first of several pre privatisation routes, I would love to see a steam period route as the next British route.

Well that's just ignited my interest in TSW. Massive scope for rolling stock packs on this one. Hopefully it won't be the last BR blue era route.

Just hope there is going to be some more BR Blue content, that can be used on this route, and not just randomly made routes and stock that don't complement each other. Will be waiting to see what else becomes available, or whether they just forget about and move to something else, but this is the first time I have been thinking about adding TSW.

The above just further illustrate the need for the editor to be made available although there still seems to be a question mark over whether changes can be made to DTG routes. In the last studio update Matt was hopeful about this but couldn't guarantee it. Supposedly DTG are working on another studio update soon which may clarify this issue. Equally DTG were targeting a beta editor for the end of year. We'll have to wait and see if this happens.david1 wrote: Just hope there is going to be some more BR Blue content, that can be used on this route, and not just randomly made routes and stock that don't complement each other. The editor will be nice, I am sure it won't be too long now, although I am not a creator, well only of scenario's. When I saw the GWE services mode I wondered if I would even want to make scenario's as it covered everything (within the scope of the stock supplied) and seemed realistic, however seeing service mode in subsequent routes I don't think they seem to have put in so much effort with it. However there seems to be some doubt whether we will be able to create our own service mode at the moment from what was being discussed on one of the Twitch streams, only standard scenario's, I would love to get my 1983 timetable and create a days services for this new route.

DTG Wrote "Work on the editor is progressing slowly but surely. We’re gradually opening up the number of cooked assets that can be at least viewed and, in some cases, edited within the Editor. The main tasks we’re initially focusing on enabling and improving the workflow for are scenario creation, route creation and allowing you to easily make repaints. We’ve also had lots of people asking about being able to create whole new service modes for existing routes and we have started looking at some User Interface changes to Train Sim World that could allow this to happen in the future - but there are no timescales on that yet."theorganist wrote:The editor will be nice, I am sure it won't be too long now, although I am not a creator, well only of scenario's.
