I gave in, and purchased the AP Mk2 D-F Coach pack, (the updated one which included the Wessex Trains livery), and thankfully everything worked ok then !
I am still curious as to why I wasnt "allowed" to swap the Wessex Trains Mk2 coaches with ANY other asset ? Is this a crafty sales move by AP, whereby they have placed some sort of "Coding" into the pack to stop anyone swapping stock about ? It is still annoying to have had to spend ANOTHER £9.99 on top of the AP Class 31 pack at £11.99, just to get 2 out of the 4 scenarios that AP have provided with the pack, working !
Hmmm...I smell a rat !

Derek, spending £9.99 on the AP Mk2d-f coach pack doesn't just enable two of the four scenarios to work. It gives you a brand new coach set with 6 variants and a whopping 19 liveries, which can potentially be used in any scenario where those Mk2's would be appropriate, thereby widening your choice and available stock. It also enables any other scenarios that require the AP Mk2d-f pack to work as intended without swapping.shinymac wrote:I gave in, and purchased the AP Mk2 D-F Coach pack, (the updated one which included the Wessex Trains livery), and thankfully everything worked ok then !

There's probably a genuine reason why you're unable to swap the coaches out. For example, have you checked to see if the files involved are "read-only"? Might I suggest that if you smell a rat, it's probably just your conspiracy theory boiling over on the cooker? The trouble with conspiracy theories is that almost any fact, or any aspect that would otherwise be deemed a benefit, can be made to fit them...

I've had this issue with AP stock too; ........................….then again, I've had it with stock from Just Trains, DTG, Digital Traction...…….shinymac wrote:I am still curious as to why I wasnt "allowed" to swap the Wessex Trains Mk2 coaches with ANY other asset ? There's no *sneaky coding* involved Derek; just incorrect permissions or attributes applied to folders, something that's down to our own security/permissions settings and unique to our own systems.
You should have tried deleting the coaches in RW Tools, and then rebuilding the consists in the game's scenario editor with coaches you do have.
If push comes to shove, just replicate the path to the .bin files the scenario is referencing with (renamed if necessary) copies of some other coaches .bin file(s) with a unique descriptive name. Then load the scenario in the games scenario editor and replace the 'bogus' coaches with ones you have.
You're more than capable of doing either of those, all you're missing is (once again) CONFIDENCE.
Don't forget that a backup prior to changing anything soon enables a return to the starting point if it goes títs up!!

Re: AP class 31 enhancement pack coming soon
Derek, both scenarios with the Wessex 31 are rolling start scenarios; these need a slightly different approach to the one we normally use, with stock that features in the driven train more difficult to swap---it's defined not only in the ScenarioProperties.xml/Scenario.bin files but in the StartingSave.bin file.
You need to rename or remove the StartingSave.bin file and it's associated MD% file, and once the editing has been done recreating the rolling start from within the game.

Re: AP class 31 enhancement pack coming soon
I've now received a reply from AP who advised a re-download and re-installation of the extra stock pack would fix things and it has!lenfish wrote:Anyone finding that they can't control the train brake with the mouse in the cab view. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the appropriate RSC Class 31 and reinstalling the AP enhancement and extra stock packs but this has made no difference. I submitted a support request to AP some days ago and have also posted on their Facebook site but have yet to receive any response so I don't know if this glitch is just on my system or whether it also applies to others.

Hi Gary
Thanks as always for your advice.
The 1657 Brighton to Cardiff Scenario definetly ISNT a "rolling start" one mate ! It starts in Bristol Temple Meads station where passengers are boarding !
I have now paid for the newer of the AP Mk2 coach pack scenarios now anyway, so as some have said, it will come in handy in the future. Not going to spend any time on going in to the editor, amending bin files etc etc thanks

Re: AP class 31 enhancement pack coming soon
A rolling start doesn't always mean a moving train--it can be used to start a scenario with the locomotives all set up; lights on etc.
Wherever you see a StartingSave.bin file you know it's such a scenario.

Re: AP class 31 enhancement pack coming soon
You've no need to; now you know why you couldn't swap stock and what to do to change that---just remove/hide from the game the StartingSave.bin and StartingSave.bin.MD5 files and you'll be able to swap what you like with RW Tools. Then once you've done, load the scenario and set the loco up. Once that's done, and it doesn't have to be done before the station stop is over as there's no rush, just press the Ctrl and F2 keys on your keyboard together. You'll be prompted to save the Rolling Start, which you'd obviously do.shinymac wrote:Not going to spend any time on going in to the editor, amending bin files etc etc thanks
Unless a scenario has been set as a Rolling Start one you won't get that prompt, so you can't do it in a *normal* scenario. If you do drop into the scenario editor, you'll find yourself looking straight at the scenario marker. The Properties box should be available to view by moving your mouse to the right hand edge of the screen: if it isn't, just double click the marker.
Whichever way you go about it, you'll see this:

Note that the Rolling Start option (bottom left icon, move your mouse over it to get the *tool tip*) is ticked.
