Train Sim 2019 keeps freezing?
Hi everyone has anybody having the same issue as me with Train Simulator 2019 freezing, into a screenshot type of crash and I have to sign out of my computer to get anything to work again? I've never had this before not since the game itself updated from 2018 to 2019, I have reinstalled the game to see if it made a difference but it's still doing it.
If anyone can help me fix it I'd be very grateful.
Cheers, Ian.

Does this happen on loading of the game, loading of a scenario or during playing?
Re: Train Sim 2019 keeps freezing?
This is also happening to me. As you say the screen freezes and the sound stops. I can only get out of Trainsim through alt-ctrl-del and task manager. It occurs pasing traffic, usually about 2/3rds of the way along the oncoming consist. It is repeatable e.g on a DPS scenario NMT scenario just north of Oxenholme onWCMLN over Shap.

So the obvious suspect is the oncoming consist; you may have a *less than ideal* .bin file for one of the stock items. Could you list just what's in that consist?rleirik wrote: It occurs pasing traffic, usually about 2/3rds of the way along the oncoming consist. Hey Gary it does it during world editor mode, it's even been freezing in 2018 savedump error it was with that?gptech wrote:Does this happen on loading of the game, loading of a scenario or during playing?
For some reason it installed the 32 bit version but I'm on a 64 bit PC could this be causing the problems?
What I could do is send you a screen next time it freezes on me I'll have to use my camera and upload it.
Re: Train Sim 2019 keeps freezing?
Try updating sound drivers, alternatively, switch to an alternate sound card -- I've had a similar thing happen with an outdated Focusrite driver, TS freezing completely when meeting oncoming trains.
Judging by the unfinished state of the openal (positional 3d audio) support in the current release, I'd say this seems to be the wonkiest part of the program right now...

Yeah, it does--the 64bit version is an option when you load the game, so nothing's amiss there.class1987 wrote:For some reason it installed the 32 bit version
The "Savedump" isn't the actual error that caused the crash, just a notification that the routine to *dump* the contents of memory to disc as a diagnostic aid/file didn't occur. You may have a flakey/corrupt file, particularly as it would seem to be an issue not due to the upgrade to TS2019, that's causing the game to crash. If this is happening in the editor, load up a few routes in editor mode to see if it's confined to just one or a more general issue.class1987 wrote:it's even been freezing in 2018 savedump error it was with that?
I'd definitely agree there, but if Ian's been having bother in TS2018 also it wouldn't be the main reason why he's getting freezes/crashes. Should be the amongst the first suspects when dealing with TS2019 specific issues though---the hard bit is working out whether issues have been lurking in the background previously.Thulin wrote:Judging by the unfinished state of the openal (positional 3d audio) support in the current release, I'd say this seems to be the wonkiest part of the program right now...
rleirik, are you getting the issue in both 32 and 64bit versions of TS2019, and did you ever experience it under TS2018?
Re: Train Sim 2019 keeps freezing?
In this case it's an apparently stock Royal Mail 325
RSC\Class325Pack01\RailVehicles\Class325\Default\Class325_MPMV_Panto_Low.bin etc.
It is not confined to this stock, it happens quite widely with standard stock for example an oncoming 360 outside Chelmsford.

Edit. I followed the suggestion about sound card and have regressed from the dedicated soundcard (Asus Xonar DGX) to onboard realtek audio and have just managed to get past the 325 mailtrain- so crossed fingers. Thanks for the suggestion.

When you click on Play in the Stem Client you should get a wee box pop up where you choose which version.class1987 wrote:Is the 64bit option at the main menu? As can't find the option

Click the check button next to the 64bit Edition and click on Play

Nice! I also switched to Realtek on-board which solved the problem. (Then I found updated drivers for my Focusrite USB card, switched back to that and haven't had a problem since!)rleirik wrote:

ALthough my computer is only 18 months old there seem to have been no driver updates for the soundcard since 2015. Advice gratefully received if anyone has suggestions for new soundcards which work well in TS.

DTG have acknowledged that there's a problem with the sound, so I'd suggest you wait until they fix it before thinking about buying a new sound card.rleirik wrote:Advice gratefully received if anyone has suggestions for new soundcards which work well in TS.
Re: Train Sim 2019 keeps freezing?
Hi again I still seem to be having trouble with the auto screenshot freezing again I've had an idea which I think might stop this problem is there a setting that can disable the screenshot function?

Not quite understanding this?class1987 wrote:Hi again I still seem to be having trouble with the auto screenshot freezing again I've had an idea which I think might stop this problem is there a setting that can disable the screenshot function?
My Screenshots are only taken when I push a button or the F12? key - I normally use the Camera Icon next to the F3 HUD
