Re: TS2019 64-bit Sound Quality (Sound Is Directional)
Using 64 bit is like turning back the clock to the days of my old PC.... jerky sound and movement.. think I will stick to 32 for now.

At the risk of repeating myself
. If you have two graphics cards make sure it's the right one selected.

One presumes that is achieved by running the provided bat file Andy?AndyUK wrote:Is that using the 32bit or 64bit OpenAL32.dll? I'm using the 64bit version and the horn sound is centred.Electricfox wrote:Glad it's not just me then, I loaded up the AP 315 during my 64bit 2019 testing and sounded the horn, my right ear got the lot.....

I swapped them manually as I don't yet have the .bat file but I assume the result would be the same.

If you've got a creative card, copying in the version of OpenAL32.dll from the windows syswow folder gives very nice results.

Re: TS2019 64-bit Sound Quality (Sound Is Directional)
So here's a spanner in the works,
I haven't updated to TS 2019 yet (I tend to disconnect from WiFi so as to not slow my system down when it downloads updates) and I am having the same issue. I actually use earphones on my PC, and mostly just have one in at a time. This issue for me seems to have started around the time of the massive batch of AP updates a few weeks ago?

The sounds for me are much improved and the directionality much more noticeable on surround sound system. The clarity seems much better also. My graphics settings are all to the right which was not possible before but I do need to cap FPS at 40, without the cap I get very jerky performance on some high detail routes with FPS fluctuating between 39-60FPS.

Coincidentally I've been experiencing sound problems over the last two days that I was suspecting was down to the update, turns out it was a faulty volume control on a subwoofer causing reduced bass output. Now things are back to normal I would say game sound has improved.

To the OP, jstange, if your still reading this thread.
I use headphones for TS and have long found that the volume change from ear to ear is far too aggressive, ie that a sound disappears from the far ear way too fast when a train pans past, and nothing like the way my ears work in the real world. This is about HRTF and explained here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head-rela ... r_function
There is a solution which is essentially explained in these links, but need suitable modification to suit TS.

A bit complicated for sure, but personally find it well worth it compared to the TS default effect.

I aint got a clue how too I just create routes.. but on making some searches.. i tried "If you want to use the dedicated graphics card, select High-performance Nvidia processor."
from Nvidia Control panel.. did that but still just the same..
Running beaut on 32 so will leave as is..

After downloading TS19 and making no file changes whatsoever, I totally agree regarding improved sounds and surround directionality. Definitely an unexpected plus for me (coming from a pro-audio biz background and using an Asus D2X700 soundcard).markjudith wrote:The sounds for me are much improved and the directionality much more noticeable on surround sound system.
