...or rename the updated stock's textures folder to textures-branded (for example) before applying any update. That'll allow the installer to put the old textures back, so then you'd just delete that
re-installed textures folder and rename your backed up textures-branded folder to textures..
Probably no quicker, or easier, but it's an option.

Why do we need to reinstall the "Branding Patch(es)" again - that's a texture file but the updates are audio files?
Totally different????

I assume because the update routine installs the whole package again Peter, not just the updated audio files. Of course you could just install the update to a dummy folder and simply copy and paste the new files over, but you'd need to make sure that there were no critical changes to the other files.

Gary
I looked at several branding patches in various DLC and they/it seemed to be a separate entity for the DLC.
Applying the new sound patch did not overwrite the branding patch ie the "branded" DLC was left untouched and yes, the other variants were present in this new patch.
My conclusion: The branding patch is applied as a unique separate entity and is not overwritten by the new updated sound patch. :D

Has it made any really grand difference that was instantly noticeable the moment TS was re-started with the updates or did some of you not notice any difference?
I'm just trying to decide if it's worth my while going through the very long process of updating all the AP products again.
All views, reviews welcome. Ta.

Personally, it depends how much of a sound geek you are and whether you are bothered about directional sound (stereo/surround).

I would miss so many announcements if I had to mooch through the 50 odd companies and games I follow. Get your head out the sand fella, its safe to come out of the dark :D
It's totally off-topic here so just one remark: these big services like FB with hidden ways of funding are cancer of today's Internet. Social network is not a bad idea, but it must be designed as an independent distributed system and not as something in the hands of one man. Everyone using their services will end up giving them parts of their private data sooner or later.

Have you ever used an on-line supermarket shopping option?...you're more likely to give away information about yourself on those than in Facebook/other social media services (which incidentally I abhor too, so I'm not defending it as an 'outraged Facebooker')

Yep so true gptech. I have been using FB for years, and get messages from various TS sites who use FB, which is nearly most of them, which are quite a lot of the times never posted on forums unless posted by myself or another member.

With no personal information disclosed I expect Trev--sure, there have been breaches, and we all know the press loves to make any story as big as possible, but in real terms social media isn't a huge gathering of crooks all trying to access your bank account etc.
The biggest problem with sites such as Facebook, or rather the groups who've set up 'shop' on it is when those groups are made private and you only see what's available if you're a member. I don't have a problem of needing to be one of the "in crowd" to participate or download (that's how this place works!) but it would be nice to be able to visit such sites and see what's going on. The commercial organisations using FB however tend to be open, and we can all pop in (it's not hard to create a bookmark for all your favoured sites) as and when we like to see any announcements that have been made public.

So, let's not get all worked up about social media; let those who want to use it do so, and those that don't be allowed to ignore it if they want. It doesn't need a big debate, it's just personal choice, essentially no different from me not having any Armstrong Powerhouse sound packs because my personal choice tells ne I don't feel that strongly about sounds--you all may think I'm misguided and wrong, but as I'm a Yorkshireman I know that it's you lot that have it the wrong way round
