Before anyone asks what routes they work on, read the article.

It is a fantastic looking track, from the developers of the Konstanz route I think? The added bonus with this pack is that AP have changed the ballast textures to blend with the track - nice one.

The downside is that it doesn't include the foliage upgrade that the freeware packs do, and nobody knows if it is compatible with them. For now at least I will stick with the freeware packs.

It also does not include 'new' looking track (well, the Liverpool Manchester track set does not have it). Oh and there are still areas where what's under the track comes through. I know there is a disclaimer about this but still, for £7....

My biggest reservation is several comments on Facebook (various sites, and not all little brats) that the sounds are bad, including reference to poor reverb, echoing, and loss of rail joint noise

I know full well that the haters often jump on these things, but it's enough to make me wait until I see more feedback about it.

I have bought it, happended to be on the AP just before it was announced it was released and noticed it was out and bought, did not have time to install, but then noticed a few comments on facebook about WCML crashing and sounds being a bit poor, so sounds like a good time to backup railworks, before installing then any problems can revert back without having to wait for any fixes that might come about. looks like I will have to wait until tomorrow to see the improved track, hopefully work fine without any problems. never had any problems before with any enhancements so could just be some peoples setups.

One big difference between the AP Pack and the packs from Trainworks.eu is that the AP pack alters the ground textures to match the ballast (as closely as possible - difficult with the coarse nature of the ground textures). The track is also not actually 3D - is the DB Track 3D?

I don't know, but if so the AP track may well have less of a performance hit.

For illustration I have added some before and after pics of the AP track against the TrainWorks Liverpool Manchester upgrade one. I have also added a few more pics of the AP one in various locations. Please be aware that at the moment some of the locations are WIP.

From tests and recent feedback, the AP track seems to affect performance less than the CH Scenarios patch by Johnny Best which imported the KV track into routes.

The AP track does alter ground textures but from what I can see it does not contain 'brand new' track so areas of route which are new wont look new. I have emailed them about this.

Most of the Trainworks packs use DB tracks, with many also having an alternative option of KV tracks. No idea about Johnny Bests packs from CH scenarios as I haven't yet installed any.

Won't applying this to the NWC route delete the Conwy valley line if you have it installed? Because the CHScenarios one does!

Aghhh,

Please see attached image - working left to right on the track also works top to bottom on the Liverpool to Manchester track set which is used in this route.

There is NO difference between any of the track textures (except the rails only one)

AP are aware

I hope its fixable as I have a lot of track laying done on personal routes but where I once had all sorts of track types I have as above. Also I now no longer see original track in route building. So what once was Riviera track is now the AP version under the Riviera name. So now depending on if you have the enhancement or not, you will see one or the other. Not good for route builders so I hope not the case.
