Steam Sounds SUpreme 4F Sound Pack

Post by chrisonline »

Does anyone out there have this pack installed, and can you confirm it is working? It applies to the RSC\4FPack01, and the RSC\SettleCarlisle 4F (and NOT the Digital Traction model)

I cannot get it to work as the brakes remain firmly on, and do not release with the J key, or using the HUD, or using the in-cab controls.

I purchased it as part of the Fowler twin pack which includes the 7F enhancement pack - but the 7F installation works perfectly, no problem with the brakes. The note in the 4F pack states that the brakes work in exactly the same way as the 7F, but not for me! I have uninstalled and re-installed, and downloaded afresh form SSS, but to no avail. I suspect it is something in the scripting, but as that is in .out format, I can't check it.

Matt Walmsley at SSS says he is not aware of a problem and can't offer any answers. In fairness he has offered a refund, but I would rather get it fixed!

Anyone else have this problem?

Works OK for me. I have the DT 4F and 7F, like you, S&C 4F and the RSC 4F.......and no problems? I only use the F4 HUD,

I have run the 4F with the hud
Running Fowler_4F_Sound_Pack_-_Version_1.5

The extra instruction for the brake

The Fowler 4F has been fitted with advanced brakes, as found on the 7F
Enhancement Pack. Here are instructions on using these brakes:

Move the brakes to 44% release. Press and hold down J(Ejector). This will
fully release the brakes. One the brake pipe pressure has risen to 21in,
press and hold shift+J to move the ejector back. The ejector need to be
kept on slightly, otherwise the brakes will leak on. To apply the brakes
gradually, turn off the ejector. This will return the brakes to 44% applied.

I have used this instruction with no issues
You do need to work the Small injector as instructed but easy to use

Thanks for the responses, good to know (but also very confusing!) that others have no problem!

Yes, I have the latest version (v1.5), in fact re-downloaded and reinstalled twice. I also have the DT models, which are not affected by the SSS sound pack.

Altogether a complete mystery. I can't see any dependence on other assets, and the setup seems the same as the 7F (except the 7F is Kuju-based - but including Kuju in the included assets for a scenario doesn't solve my problem). I haven't had this issue with other SSS products . . very strange

Hi,

Just check, do you have expert mode active? You might try to release the brake by turning the lever to full release AND shift J (also try shift I) to create the necessary vacuum. I think that in the SSS code J/ shift J is used.

Thanks, but yes - I tried every conceivable option and combination, plus HUD controls, keyboard, and mouse-on-screen.

Also, as stated, the 7F works fine, and this is supposed to be the same setup, albeit that the 7F is Kuju based - so I also ensured that Kuju was ticked for the 4F just in case . . . nope :(

Others don't have the problem, so I remain bemused and bewildered :)
