Scenery appearing as if at night time but its not
Hello All
I have an issue on the route I am creating where every time I enter the scenario editor it appears as if all the scenery is at night time. The game starts running at 1fps as reported by the steam fps counter, it works fine in the route editor and fine in scenarios I have had previously before this problem started occurring repeatedly. It has occurred sporadically since the beginning of building the route but as it never seemed to last I just put it down to a nuance of the game.
In the first screenshot below you can see where everything appears as if it is in the dark and in the second screen shot you can see where it appears when I use the torch function.

If anyone has any ideas that would be great as currently I am unable to even put a loco in my route let alone do a full scenario.
Thanks
Bekns

I have the same issue and no idea what is wrong! Both S&C and Woodhead open for the route editor (route builder)in exactly the same fashion!
I discovered this in a roundabout way - I cannot get terrain textures from the UKTS Free packs to show in any route and it was only by opening
the 2 routes that I found the same error.
Hope someone can come to the rescue? Just out of interest have you unpacked your ap. files for the route? I have all mine unpacked but now
wonder if that is the problem?
Regards
Tom

Hi Tom
Yeah its a nightmare alright. I do not have my AP files unpacked and there is at least 5 of them so I dont think this is contributing to the issue. Does your program slow down to a crawl when this occurs as well?
I am going to try and change the weather to a different provider, change the time of day files as I am using custom ones and clone the route, in that order and see if any of it makes a difference. Failing that I will hand off the route to a friend and see if they too have the same problem.
I will report back with any findings.

Hi Bekns
Ended up by verifying files on Steam - over 8000 files needed re -acquiring! Haven't a clue why!
Check in scenario to make sure it isn't a default night time scene as Woodhead definitely is for me.
Do wonder if the old Kuju core is past it's sell by date - shame if it is because routes like Whitby & Pickering and
Leeds- Harrogate loop are excellent. TSW won't appeal to me until it's properly accessible to 'mess about' with and there
is some UK steam!
Cheers

Re: Scenery appearing as if at night time but its not
I sat down last night to have a fiddle and see if I could track down the cause (again), I started up a new scenario via the build screen as a baseline and what do you know it worked properly straight away so here we are again with an issue that is problematic which makes it hard to narrow down possible causes.
I will keep plugging away building and hope that at some point it becomes obvious what the issue is.

Check the weather that the two scenarios are using - that might give you a clue to what is going on.

My railway photos are now on Google + - links to the albums are in this thread http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=149558
Lots of steam and early diesels from 1959 to 1963.

I had the same problem with a route im creating, but happens if its the second route you load. People might disagree with me, but the problem is just TS itself, its just a poorly constructed game, which Dovetail never bothered to fix after they created. Don't get me wrong its a good game, but the same problems have been around for 10 years and nothing has been done about them.

Do you get the same with any other route if you load it as the second one?GWRHST wrote:I had the same problem with a route im creating, but happens if its the second route you load.

RWInfo, which is a free program showing you the routes you have, has a set of useful reporting facilities.
https://www.10a.ch/en/node/73
You can obtain a report like this this one in TXT,CSV which you could import into excel. that shows you a lot of information regarding your routes and scenarios and the stock and type.
You may find that if you check which of your scenarios is dark against the type of weather file listed in the RWInfo report a pattern may appear that will give you a clue as to what might be wrong.
If I remember correctly you dont need to unpack the .ap files.
Cheers John

Nope just this one route.

OK, so if it's just the one route surely it's more likely to be an issue with that route than the game itself?GWRHST wrote:gptech wrote:Do you get the same with any other route if you load it as the second one?GWRHST wrote:I had the same problem with a route im creating, but happens if its the second route you load.
Nope just this one route.
What are the default weather/season/sky patterns you've used?
Have a read through Richard Maxted's investigations into weather patterns following the introduction of the new system at http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... r+patterns

Re: Scenery appearing as if at night time but its not
Two of us have already suggested this, Gary, but we haven't heard anything back. I haven't had this problem for a long time, but when I did I seem to remember it was specific to a scenario that was referring to files that DTG, in their wisdom, had moved. Some of the early 'default' Environment, Time of Day and Weather folders and files from Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator were moved into RSC\BathTemp and RSC\OxPadd. I think I edited the weather pattern in the ScenarioProperties.xml to point to the right place, but I assume this could be done in the TS editor.gptech wrote:What are the default weather/season/sky patterns you've used?
I have a vague recollection that some routes suffered from this after the change, but I could be wrong.

No, you're not wrong; there were a fair few routes and scenarios that needed a wee bit of attention. All 3rd party routes and scenarios that called for files that had been moved would have needed editing.
