reasons for being at a station for about 5 minutes
Can anyone give me a few reasons as to why a train would be at a station for about 5 minutes? Running early would be out of the question because you'll arrive on time(or slightly late). I thought that having a scenario where the train before the one you're driving was cancelled would increase the passenger loading times, allthough I guess it still wouldn't make it as long as 5 minutes.
Any ideas?

I couldn't implement a reason such as 'no driver' because you will be the driver. Allthough the 'no guard' suggestion is good, there could be a change of guard/conductor at the station and the new one is late turning up. Or there could be a delay of the buffet stock being available at the station.
By the way, the activity will be heading north on the East coast mainline, with a delay at either Peterborough, Grantham or Newark.

I would say a connecting service would be better, not neccersary a late running one. You arrive at a station, passengers wanting to change trains get off. Connecting service arrives, passengers get on and off that one and then that goes. Passengers from other train board your train and you're waiting for the signals to clear for your service.

I have thought of another prototypical one .. this time , it actually happens ! ...
Some services are (particularly weekends) booked longer than usual path times to allow for engineering etc work . This often leads to undue waits at platforms.

driver refused to take out train because he was having his lunch. That has happened in real at shrewsbury resulting in the chester being 45 minutes late and a very disturbed driver of a manchester train backing out and having to run centre line through to get to crewe. all because the chester driver wanted his tea and biscuits. worst of all they announced this aswell which by the time the driver showed up was red.
