York to Peterborough Modern

Post by earwigo »

I am trying the scenario 'Doncaster - Newark Freight'.I get to a red signal before I can pick up any containers. I can't get past that, even by pressing tab. Can anyone tell me how to get past (or avoid) that danger signal?
Many thanks,
Stuart.

Not tried that myself but perhaps look at map view to see if you need to switch any points set against you?

Are you in the back cab at this point?

If so, press CTRL + TAB.

Hello,
Yes I am in the back cab, and pressing control tab works. I get permission denied, however, and there's an AI train on my left which is just about fouling my track at a point just beyond the signal.
This all happens very early on in the scenario.
Any more ideas, please?
Thanks.
Stuart.

What happens if you change ends instead of driving from the back cab?

Use the 2D map to Check the points are set thru to the Reversing Point 3 and if you get no response on TAB, as I didn't, pass the Signal at Red.
It's obviously a fault as the previous signal was a Green - you then have to change the points to get to the Container line 4.

As 749006 says you need to change several points to achieve your goals.
Drive to stopping point 1, wait for timer then change ends & drive to stopping point2. Again wait for timer then change ends and head for stopping point 3.
Immediately prior to point 3 there's a red as the points are set against you, change them (I always use the map view) and move to stopping point 3. Wait for timer, change ends then go to map view.
You now need to change several sets of points to get to your containers at Railport 4. Once you have the route set go and couple to them.
Move your train forwards and use map view to see when the containers have cleared the final set of points you'll need to change to reverse back onto the second set of containers in Railport 2.
Once you have coupled to these you set off for Ranskill Loop, there are no more points to change from now on just make the indicated short stops in the two loops and finish at Newark.
Good luck.

The stopping in the loops when you have a clear signal seems to be a bit pointless but without it you don't complete the Scenario.

I have done all the above, and still get a red signal, even when I change the points on the map to give me a clear road ahead. Ctrl+tab gives a denied notice, and passing the red signal gives a game over notice.
Anyway thanks for all the above ideas.

At the red signal just before stopping point 3 first change the points then TAB the signal (not Ctrl/TAB) to get permission to pass.

You only use Ctrl+Tab when you are pushing a train or driving from the wrong cab.

Come out of depot to reverse point 1 - Change Ends
Go to reverse point 2 - Change Ends
Signal shows Green even thought the next is a RED (Defective)
Just before the Red signal change the points coming out of the sdg on the left as they are set wrong.
If you try a TAB before changing the points it might show Denied
The Signal is Red but the 2D plan shows the route set to reverse point 3 - Change Ends.
There is no signal to see if the line is now set so check the 2D map as you will need to set the route to the Freighliner train.
