problems with assets disappearing?

Post by class1987 »

Hi everyone has anybody on here who is making there own routes having an issue with assets disappearing that have been placed when creating their routes? For example houses, trees, foliage, etc, technically the assets are there but invisible when you remove your mouse away from it.
If anybody can help me resolve this bizarre issue can they tell me how to fix it. Cheers, Ian.

Hi Ian

This problem is usually caused by the way that TS2018 deal with LODs. In the editor, double-click on a particular asset and see what LOD value is assigned to it. You'll probably find that it's below 4, on more likely, 1. You can edit this value to whatever you like but, for general scenery items. I'd suggest a figure no lower than 6, if you wish to see every asset in the route.

Have a search of the forums on this issue - there are several useful threads.

And you can do it very quickly using RWTools. Use the Search and Replace/find in in multiple files menu, select the scenery folder in your route, and place the line <DetailLevel d:type="sInt32">n</DetailLevel> in both boxes. In the top box, change n from 1 to, say, 6; in the bottom box keep n fixed at 7. Select ALL files, and then Replace in selected files. You do this for all values of n you choose (in this case 6 repetitions).
Just going off line for the day, but plenty more folk on here to help

Read the post by Ash again - he makes sensible suggestions.

Ash suggested 6, I suggested 7. Unless you have your settings set at maximum, you will still have assets not appearing with LoD at 2.

When in the Build Screen, in the Scenery menu, at the bottom left is a large, square, orange slider, numbered 1 on left, 10 on right. If you move that, you will see assets appear and disappear. The setting you select, and the asset LoD, MUST add up to at least 11 for the asset to be seen - in the Build screen.
