No so, we have good discussions about German, Austrian, Swiss, French, Italian, Spanish etc. etc routes and assets here, as well as USA/Canada. UKTrainsim is not dedicated solely to the UK... and don't forget that some of the developers for various US routes are based outside of the USA, and even frequent here from time to time...

However, you will certainly get a more in depth and somewhat more partisan discussion about US routes etc. over at RWA :)

I'd be interested in links to those Steam threads too.
Everyone says go to RWA but no further info - So
This is the thread on RWA about Marias Pass which has the same problem about being sold outside the US

I'm afraid I don't have the time or inclination to search through all the threads on Steam about the BNSF issue which could take 2 or 3 hours to do, so if you really want to know may I suggest that you go to the TS Steam forums and type BNSF or whatever into their search box, or you could get lucky by doing a google search. :)

Well, I've skimmed through (I'd hesitate to say "trolled through") several threads on Steam about the BNSF licensing issue outside the US. I was unable to find any discussion about cost and collecting money from outside the US.

The DTG spokesman said that they had a license to use the BNSF logo on their US-distributed content (but didn't say whether they had to pay for it or not) but could not get BNSF to give (or sell) them a license to use the BNSF logo on product they supplied outside of the US. He also said they had a good relationship with BNSF.

If anyone comes across posts discussing the problem of payments from outside the US, please post a link in this thread.

Indeed some developers of UK content are based in America! I'm thinking specifically of Mr Kris Wilson of DT here... complete Caledonian Railway nutter (And good for him! It means we're getting some decent pre-grouping content at last!) but not at all British, though possibly British in some aspects of his nature, if you see what I mean.

So your argument is based upon vague memories of other's opinions/theories you think you read in the Steam forums?

Based on the statements in that Eurogamer article, if BNSF hasn't registered its trademark in the UK, for example, then there's nothing so stop DTG from releasing BNSF-branded content in the UK (except, of course, that BNSF might pull DTG's license for the US).

I love the way some people think they know better than DTG about how and why they should or shouldn't use BNSF-related trademarks and logos outside the US, whether specifically in the UK, Europe, or elsewhere.

"I think . . . " therefore "they should . . ." . The OP says "I want Stevens Pass to be released outside of the United States."

The ONLY decision maker in that process is DTG, who I am sure have taken legal advice on the matter.

There is NOTHING more to debate.

Give me a break.

Yes I signed that petition. Was actually emailed by the organiser of it.

Unfortunately that petition got only 294 signatures. I doubt that's enough to sway BNSF and DTG.

Yes the person who started it realized that and shut it down.

I shall rephrase that, the person who started it shut it down as they had second thoughts about it.
