Creative Rail's ECML Modern Coming to Steam
I've just found this: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/tra ... of-legends
There isn't much info about what's changed from the existing version, but it looks like the Class 91 will be included.

Re: Creative Rail's ECML Modern Coming to Steam
I very much doubt it, much like China Clay I would imagine they are just publishing on behalf of CR. I really do like the look of this route and go back to it time and again. The only thing that lets it down for me is the Kuju signalling.roballen555 wrote:just hope DTG give the CR route a bit of a face lift, but the screen shots look the same as CR's route, look forward to this for once lol.
Re: Creative Rail's ECML Modern Coming to Steam
This is a great route, I have the CR version, it looks like the Steam version will be the same.
It provides the "missing link" of the ECML from Peterborough to York. There are some issues with some of the detail, but all fixable. CR also have another version East Coast ( British Rail ) which has the old track going via Selby. I would recommend both.

It is a nice route but it could with HD'ing, the lack of track furniture bugs me no end!

Hmmm, not quite, they've both got Selby included. This modern electric version has the avoiding line past Selby and a line into Selby Station, which isn't electrified, of course, but, it doesn't go any further, so, you have to reverse back out and round towards Milford Jct and then up to York, the diesel version goes directly through Selby Station and out the other side, and up to York.Springer6 wrote: CR also have another version East Coast ( British Rail ) which has the old track going via Selby. I think Springer is referring to the old track from Chaloners Whin Jn to Selby which is in the non electrified versionTransportSteve wrote:Hmmm, not quite, they've both got Selby included. Re: Creative Rail's ECML Modern Coming to Steam
Oh, well, I haven't personally been to Selby since about 1980/81, last few years of the Deltics, I didn't realise they had ripped the track up from there up to Chaloners Whin Jct. absolute vandals........
So, the new electrified route then is from York down to Colton Jct and then to Gascoigne Wood Jct and across to Selby, or, carry on south to Donny, via Temple Hirst Jct, well, I've learnt something today.

Re: Creative Rail's ECML Modern Coming to Steam
Yes that is correct. They both have Selby in the route, but the East Coast main line ( which is what I was referring to) used to run "via Selby". The route East Coast (British Rail) depicts this situation, so you can regress it to Steam era if you wish.749006 wrote:I think Springer is referring to the old track from Chaloners Whin Jn to Selby which is in the non electrified versionTransportSteve wrote:Hmmm, not quite, they've both got Selby included. The East Coast Modern route of course depicts the track as it is now i.e. crossing the river Wharfe on a new bridge to the North West of Selby. The track to Selby now branches off the East Coast Main Line, just north of Heck and runs through Selby and on to Hull. The CR modern route depicts this and has a "Hull" portal just to the East of Selby.
There is of course another branch to the West from Selby to Hambleton North Junction on the ECML, but the ECML as such no longer runs "via Selby".

Re: Creative Rail's ECML Modern Coming to Steam
I've just re-installed Creative's version and had a run on it again.
While it doesn't quite meet the levels of DTG's routes for detail and scenery, I find it visually convincing with a nice representation of the countryside along the route. However, you do have to turn off procedural flora to stop the clumps of rough grass growing everywhere, including ploughed fields and roads! It only uses 2D trees which may not be to everybody's taste, but it does them quite effectively and they have the advantage of not hitting frame rates much.
It is of course a fast point to point route, but does have some very large yards along the way for shunting or delivery of freight. It also has the Selby triangle, which gives the opportunity for some local diverging DMU driving if that's your thing.
It will be good to see it being offered to a wider audience.
