Apparently our German friends have a limitless appetite for these modern lookalike suburban routes and the plastic trains that run on them…

Not seen all the details yet,but its a short route, again, on 15mins from Koln Hbf to airport, and the loop line is not much longer,,have to wait and see a map. maybe ok,if they don't charge £24.99 AGAIN for this extension lol.

About 25km according to google maps.
If they are going to charge £24.99, then it better have an all singing all dancing pro mode 423, 422, 420, 425, ICE3 and plenty of freight rolling stock.

Really need to see a map, bit weird if they're only doing Cologne to Troisdorf rather than Düren to Troisdorf though.

I suppose that it comes as an extension to Cologne-Koblenz. And it will bring more :
Quote:
In addition to that, the expansive complex that is Gremberg Marshalling Yard, a site of significant freight importance, will soon be yours to explore!

This would not make sense just for a S-Bahn line.

Cologne to Troisdorf makes no sense as an "extension Cologne to Koblenz" service vise. Even with the yard I don´t really see any meaning. I hope they include the "südbrücke" connection to Köln-Eifeltor. After Troisdorf there are some really interesting routes. Rechte Rheinstrecke to Wiesbaden, Siegstrecke to Siegen and the high speed line to Frankfurt. I don´t understand why they did not explore some of those great lines and just ended in Troisdorf. It seems like a extremly lazy effort with no real playing options besides the S13 service.

There are a few bloopers, but if you don't know the line then you can probably live with them. Reports of the QD being mixed up.

Unfortunately it would seem that there are major errors in the signalling, the route is getting a real slating about this and other things on the German forum.

One of the major issues is that there are a number of broken track joints on the route, but, looking at the screenshots on the German forum there is no way of knowing where they are located, so, don't drive at 160kmh around the route until you have found them and marked them accordingly.

Signalling errors, broken joints and local knowledge irritations apart the lineside detail on the original route is very good indeed. It feels like you are travelling through a real environment - has this been continued into the new extension?
