Locomotive Pantograph Question
Where does a loco that has a Pantograph - like the RSC Class 86 find it's Pantograph?
I was thinking about changing the Pantograph to the one used in the UKTS Freeware Class 86 but I have no idea where it's found
I can see references in the loco BIN file and I can find Panto BAN animation files but I'm no close to finding where the shape is.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
The pantograph on the RSC Class 86 is part of the loco shape file and it is the same for the Freeware 86, so I can't see how you could possibly achieve what you wish to do.
Expanding the TS wagon fleet.

Thanks for the info - I could not see anything in the various folders.malkymackay wrote:The pantograph on the RSC Class 86 is part of the loco shape file and it is the same for the Freeware 86, so I can't see how you could possibly achieve what you wish to do.
I will give this idea a miss

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
The pantograph of a locomotive is an integral part of the 3D object and not a child object attached via blueprint editor.
AFAC, you can not change it.
Ban file are final export files, exported from .ia.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
Before coming to Railworks/TS2012 I had Trainz which I enjoyed at the time.
In that game it was possible to change some of the assets, like Pantographs, between models.
I was not sure if you could do the same in Railworks

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
Only things that can be replaced are I suppose child elements, attached via blueprint editor, changing those matrix values, which is painful.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
One of the reason for asking is to create a Pendolino vehicle without a Pantograph.
Some of the Class 390's were extended from 9 to 11 vehicles by inserting another MSO and a PTSO minus the Pantograph
So the coach has the depression on the roof but the pantograph is not provided because it's fed via a 25kv feeder.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
If the panto's a named node in the model it may be possible to suppress the loading of it, therefore giving a no panto PTSO, with a fairly simple bit of scripting. I'll have a look tonight, unless anybody else sorts it beforehand.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
Mixed results...there are 6 nodes that make up the panto and 6 for the spark, all of which can be hidden.....but...
the rest of the 'furniture' in the well can't (or I can't at least) be hidden, which I'm guessing is what's needed.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
Although the Pantograph frame is not used the other items on the roof are still there on the real coaches so would look correct as you have it now.gptech wrote:Mixed results...there are 6 nodes that make up the panto and 6 for the spark, all of which can be hidden.....but...

It would have to use the Standard Class Coach as the First Class vehicle retains it's pantograph.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
OK...next problem....
I don't have a PTSO, just the PTSRMB so unless the default model includes the right coach I'll have to knock one together from the PTFO model. It'll need revisions to the .Geo which could make things awkward for distribution--certainly through UKTS at least. The alternative would be a convoluted new folder structure which I'd rather not do if it can be avoided.
Do you know the correct coach letters for these extra 2?---PTSO would appear to be 'U' from the image you linked to but is that universal across the extended and 'built as 11 cars' sets?

This might help (or just confuse the situation)

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
Both Dave.........but nice to know at least. The coach letter is dead easy, just a matter of editing a copy of the 390f texture so we seem to be making some progress.

Re: Locomotive Pantograph Question
Idiot!!!....... It's interior a that has the LED letters; f is probably the one that holds the first class/quiet zone lettering.......copy of the 390f texture.....

DMSO (A)- MSO (B) - PTSRMB (C) - MSO (D) - TSO (E) - MSO (F) - TSO (U) - MFO (G) - PTFO (H) - MFO (J) - DMRFO (K)
The PTFO vehicle has the First Class stickers on the outside - the PTSRMB might be a better vehicles to make a Coach U out of?
As a work around I duplicated D & E vehicles in to the F & U places - that way only one pantograph was raised when running
