What's next for TSW?

Post by fakenham1 »

Apologies if I've missed any details in previous threads. I'm just wondering if there's been any indication as to what is being worked on for TSW's next DLC release? Thought I heard something about extra stuff being worked on for GWE in one of Matt P's vids, but I may have misheard.
Cheers.

We won't know until it's officially announced, which is when it's almost ready for release.

Hopefully they are working on a class 165 and the Thames valley branches

A 165 and Thames Valley branches would be nice to see. I would also like to see the Heathrow branch and suitable train but I guess they would want the licence. I personally would be happy with unbranded trains but there you go, some would moan I guess. A westbound extension would be good so we could get more out of the HST. I thought I saw a hint somewhere that a class 387 might be on the cards but I may be imagining it, I did get the impression from a comment I heard on a stream that DTG are aware of the need for new content.

I have been wondering rhetorically that if they release some DLC would they feature in service mode, would there be a new or additional service mode or would they have just "standard" scenarios, I would hope not just the latter!

You could never be sure but with the recent arrival of Electrostars down to Didcot (?) possibly DTG might release something that includes the GWR Electrostar variant, and at the same time say if you buy this DLC it'll complete the electrification work to at least Reading & maybe they'd cosnider an extension down to Didcot who knows ...

One part of the route which certainly is wired throughout is the airport branch but ... Would releasing the EMU's for that provide an experience with any longevity ?

The Electrostar is beginning to make it's mark on the GWML, is in GWR green livery and it would make good sense for the route as it is to be magically fully-electrified, maybe extended & included with an Electrostar based DLC ... That would of course give them a base Electrostar model to re-work on any potential new UK route, the 66 & HST already available the more stock they release which can be re-used elsewhere in the country would make good business sense.

I seem to recall Matt P hinting about an Electrostar for the GWE line "in the future". Given it and the Turbostar are a common sight I think it's only a matter of time.

Though hopefully there will be an Aventra soon for GWE too.

I don't think it will be the electrostar for GWE yet, the catenary as modelled does not extend much beyond airport junction

Does make you wonder whether they've bitten off a bit more than they can chew, having TS2018, TSW, Flight Sim(s), Fishing (!!), it's a lot for a dev house to manage.

It's a shame not to have more new content, but I understand that it is more difficult to build and get it right, I'm more disappointed about the lack of any sort of community tools, abilities to sort your own scenarios if not a content/world editor. I've been playing since RS launched whenever it was, when TSW was getting launched, I thought that might be it for TS2018 and all the £ I've spent over the years, but I don't think I've fires TSW up in over 2 months....

According to a thread on Dovetails own forums there will be some announcements in the next couple of weeks.
