It's bugged me since Kuju days that the default number 7 texture file for BR loco numbering is the wrong font. The other numbers may be too, but to me the number 7 sticks out like a sore thumb, having a curved rather than straight downward stroke.
I struggle with retexturing, even for something this basic, and I wonder if anyone knows of a texture fix for this or could knock one up fairly quickly?

Re: Default number 7
Different locos often have different textures, so there isn't a "one size fits all" solution I'm afraid---some numbers have just the single character in the texture file, whilst others have it duplicated for two different colours, such as black for the loco/DMU end and white for the bodyside.
Pick one you want *fixing*, post it in here and you'll soon be inundated with alternatives

Re: Default number 7
Thanks very much. The ones I have in mind are used for the default BR blue and large logo 47s. I can't remember the exact path - probably ../Diesel/Class47/Default/Engine/Textures/number_7 (or similar) for one of them.gptech wrote:Different locos often have different textures, so there isn't a "one size fits all" solution I'm afraid---some numbers have just the single character in the texture file, whilst others have it duplicated for two different colours, such as black for the loco/DMU end and white for the bodyside.

Give this a bash...

Just extract the contents of
https://ln.sync.com/dl/1ce486860/9z48y8 ... s-yb6zfgsm
into your ..\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class47\Default\Engine\Textures folder. It includes a copy of the default texture, named as number_7.TgPcDx.ORIG so a simple rename to remove the .ORIG gets you back to a default state.
If it needs tweaking just let me know, and once that's sorted it'll probably (hopefully!) simply resize to suit the large logo version

Thanks so much, Gary - I'll give that a go as soon as I next get a chance. The screenshot looks promising!

Getting annoyed at things like that in TS is dangerous business. My preserved Deltic pack evolved many times along the way, but was basically born from me not like the green Deltics having numbers like D9 009 in the wrong font as well as the TOPs era spacing. Five or six years of nitpicking later.......

Yep, I can see the danger... Hoping that my deficit of time and skills may keep me on the straight and narrow...deltic009 wrote:Getting annoyed at things like that in TS is dangerous business. Nothing wrong with a challenge...malkymackay wrote:.....just to show that the prototype can really make things awkward.

...yeah, and as soon as you *fix* the "biggest niggle" the others all shuffle up a spot so you have another, brand new, "biggest niggle".....deltic009 wrote:Getting annoyed at things like that in TS is dangerous business.....
