And very nice it is too, delighted that my £4.50 has gone to help bring back the real loco too!

Thank you very much, SSS and all involved.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the loco identity to another Grange? I only ask as the textures look so much better, and the sounds will be so much better, than the default EK Grange that (when I buy the pack) I'd much rather use this pack as a base than the default.

All the best,

I thought SSS were behind the sounds for the EK stock? The sounds on the Riviera are excellent in my opinion, some of the best in the sim for a commercial steam route.

Mr Organist,

I believe Victory Works did most of the stock, but (whilst the sounds are good) the lack of normal SSS features (Such as more than one whistle) are absent. Also, why would SSS issue an enhancement pack if they had done the best job originally? The sounds are good for DTG stuff... but not as good as SSS stuff!

I'ts a enhancement for the EK Grange, and also a one off special, the original Granges stopped at 6879 Overton Grange, thats why you need to have Riviera 1958 installed.
Betton Grange was built by the 6880 society,SSS are donating some of the money from the sale of this locomotive to the society.

If you are asking this question then you might want to ask them personally. SSS (Matt) did the sounds for all of the locomotives and stock. Source? The manual.

Makes an interesting conundrum!

Really, try the Spacebar for one whistle and Shift + Key "B" for a second whistle.

My Apologies...

And thanks for the second whistle Rob, I never knew. I don't know what's happened to the manual: it's not where it should be.

I think I may just quietly slip out the side entrancee...

All the best,

P.S: That teaches me to not research stuff properly!

I am curious about the new build and have held back as I am concerned on what the loco would look like. How do you run it as it is really a modern loco to a old design. So do you run it as preserved and modern steam tours. Glad it does not have the modern lights and mods you see to run on the current railway scene. If you were not aware of the name and number it looks like it will fit in to the BR scene nicely. Has anyone load test the loco, how does it steam. Looks great so I am in as well, nice to support the steam development. Thanks for sharing the pics

I just splashed the cash and purchased the Betton Grange and followed the install instructions
I was surprised to see the install instructions show the age old method of extracting .ap Archive files

The package is through Steam Sound Supreme who have released an update for the Black5
in direct contrast the Black5 install by Steam Sound Supreme uses a batch file to copy the file from the .ap Archive to the correct location, which is easy and as you would expect

The Betton Grange package sold by Steam Sound Supreme for the Betton Grange Society has a document which explains how to go to the DTG\ExeterKingswear\ and extract the .ap Archive

The best option would be a bit of help to create the batch file
Or
Change the instruction to copy the 3 files from the .ap Archive and place them in the folder paths as required

The instructions and path is the same process and no more complicated
Follow the install instruction until your directed to extract the .ap Archive

Use 7zip with "Open archive" option for the ExeterKingswearAssets.ap (Right Click on file for menu then 7-Zip > select the Open archive)
Follow the path to the to find the .GeoPcDx files one at a time
Select the file and click the right mouse button
This brings up the menu options for the zip program
Select the "Copy To" option
For all three .GeoPcDx files as directed

You will now have the .GeoPcDx files extracted to sit beside the ExeterKingswearAssets.ap
BettonInstall01.jpg
Cut each of the .GeoPcDx files and follow the path as per the instructions to the first location
Paste the file and then copy the file, now follow the path to all the required locations and paste a copy
Example the Engine .GeoPcDx file and the cab
BettonInstall02.jpg
The same for the King Tender .GeoPcDx file
BettonTenderInstall01.jpg
You now have the ExeterKingswearAssets.ap still packed as recommended
The .ap Archive will be checked as unchanged and keep the files compressed
You have the Grange install outside the ExeterKingswearAssets.ap file but with the 3 .GeoPcDx files in the correct location
The files outside will be read and work as required
Just a way to allow the add on with out extracting .ap Archive files
I am sure this is an over sight and will be corrected in the mean time

I don't have Betton Grange, but all you have to do with a .Geocpdx file stored in an .ap file is to drag it to the required destination. No need for any copying or pasting once you have used 7Zip to open the .ap.

Doesn't remove anything from the .ap file.

Minor point, but as I'm not one to pass on a chance to be pedantic  .... .ap archives aren't compressed, simply just archives.

Note that the file size is the same as the packed size.

A compressed folder shows like:

The packed size being smaller than the file size

Just to clarify this, Victory Works worked on the blueprints, simulations and engine features of all of the EK tender locos and we also built the Driver Assist system. We didn't do any of the audio.
