Compressed files

I would be grateful if someone could help me on the subject of compressed files. For some reason which I can't determine I have found all my folders for downloads etc have ALL been compressed. I must inadvertently have clicked something which has caused this to happen. It is easy enough to open a compressed folder but can anyone spot where I might have gone wrong so that I can decompress them with 1 click!!!

Do you mean files and folder compressed by Windows, or are you talking about zips or aps?

If Windows files, they 8usually show in another colour - but if you are in doubt on that follow the instructions "To display alternate colors for compressed files and folders" on this page to do that:

They are coloured yellow with a strap round them.

Right click the drive, choose properties, uncheck the box for "compress this drive to save space"

Note that if it is a big drive it will take a long time to uncompress them all.

Gary the Compressed Box is already unticked!!! It seems strange - this seemed to happen instantaneously. Hence my request for help. It doesn't really affect how I use these folders,it is easy enough to open them and it is not affecting the running of TS. It would be just nice to have them 'unlocked'.!!! Mike Simpson's comment I guess is valid but I would never want to use the 100's of downloads I've made over years all at the same time.

The default colour for compressed files is blue, not yellow. So the files might not be compressed anyway.

Try compressing a file and see if it changes to yellow or not.

Other than the folder icon looking like a compressed folder icon, what else makes you sure that the folders are actually compressed?---it could be just the icon for the folders on that drive has been changed to the zipped folder one.

Apologies for the confusion I used in the terminology of folders ie. compressed and zip and thanks to everyone who offered help. It seems strange a lot of zipped folders have suddenly appeared. I go to my external drive where I backup all my Railworks folders and they remain unzipped. So don't worry,I'm happy and everything is working!!!
