Turning off the weather effect
Is there a way in which the weather effects(rain/snow) can be turned off. Seems pretty pointless to me; if I want to experience driving in rain I can just go for a drive in my car in real rain.

Edit the scenario to use a *good weather* weather pattern?

Re: Turning off the weather effect
Probably a stupid question, but does the scenario weather have any impact on the physics or performance of the stock?

I don't believe so, I stand to be corrected on this.

Rain or snow leads to wet rails, which can make the chances of wheelslip greater.

If you Edit the Scenario you can change the Weather Blueprint.
I don't like driving in the Rain or Snow so I usually change it for something different.

Is this actually simulated? I have never noticed the difference to be honest.gptech wrote:Rain or snow leads to wet rails, which can make the chances of wheelslip greater.

Re: Turning off the weather effect
I think it may be stock/loco/route related, older stuff seems that it doesn't have it fully/properly implemented but newer stuff does--the class 92 certainly seems to behave differently in the wet. I'm sure there's a DPS scenario on WCML Over Shap that has you driving a class 37 (from the no longer available Class37Pack01 if I'm remembering correctly) in the rain with a heavy load---a challenging drive indeed!speedypete202 wrote:Is this actually simulated? Ahh right OK. That's good to know. I'ts ages since I really drove much on TS as i can quite easily fill 12 hours with route building. Doesn't leave much time for driving, save for the quick runs through to make sure thinks look OK.
Re: Turning off the weather effect
Wheelslip is a tricky topic due to the weird train length factor - therefore most locos have unrealistically high adhesion numbers, otherwise you'd never get a heavy train moving if you started already coupled. Setting the value close to the limit is therefore a risky approach.
A few might have a tendency to slip with longer trains, but it will vary depending on the loco and train length.
The .bin file actually has three values, for wet, dry, and snow; but last time I looked the wet and snow seemed to be ignored:

I believe there are also wheelslip triggers that scenario writers can place...
