Carry on Steaming

No, not the latest Ealing Film Comedy, starring Barbara Windsor (known to many in Eastenders) and Kenneth Wiliams, but a series of Routes set in the 1950/60s. Many will know that, working in conjunction with Carinthia (John Rutherford), we have regressed WCML-N to the days of the kettles (known as "Steaming over Beattock"). The final phase will be published in a few weeks time. John has also passed on a couple of other routes for me to complete. WCML over Shap is at an advanced stage, and I should have Phase 1 ready in a few months (to be known as "Steaming over Shap"). When I made the Windermere extension to the original route, I allowed for a future doubling of the track, and the tiles have been added already. Full extensions to Morecambe and Heysham are planned. The third route is Settle to Carlisle, at present extended to Skipton. I plan to further extend to Leeds (to be known as "Steaming through the Dales"). I have also started on a regression of WCML London and the Midlands, which will also include much of the Trent Valley line as well (to be known as "Steaming through the Midlands"), and perhaps eventually reaching Crewe. Once that happens, then all of the WCML from London to Glasgow will be regressd to the 50s/60s, apart from Crewe to Preston.
I am also working, with Andy Freeman, on the South Lancashire and North Cheshire route, that will fill that gap (as well as linking Liverpool and Manchester to the WCML). Of course, the period is not the same, but it will not be difficult to regress this route once it is complete. There is life in TS still, and probably for a few more years to come.
If anyone wishes to join these projects, providing assistance with scenery placement, or better still with creating custom assets, then I would be most grateful.

Time for an update. I have put the final phase of Steaming over Beattock on hold, as I (and Andy) push on with SLANC and NWC-BRB). I intend that SoB will be complete by mid summer. In the meantime, I am pressing ahead with Steaming over Shap. I hope to complete all work from Carlisle to Oxenholme (and on to Windermere) by about Easter, and will then publish the first phase. The second phase will be on to Lancaster, and then through to Morecambe and Heysham (and I may even recreate the Lancaster to Morecambe electric line, even though there isn't a TS model of the AM1 EMUs - which were withdrawn before they could be denoted as Class 301). Perhaps by late Autumn? The final phase will see the line to Preston extended around the Lostock Hall loop (so the shed and carriage works can be included). I may even stray down into the Docks). Maybe this time next year?

Will the Preston station remodelling include the East Lancs side of the station and the Butler Street sidings and buildings, not to mention the East lance rail bridge over the river Ribble.

Yes, the East Lancs side will be fully modelled (in phase 3), and the line through Whitehouse Junction to Lostock Hall and round to join the WCML at Farington Curve Junction heading back into Preston. For those not in the know, this was the way taken by trains from the North to get to the line towards Blackpool and the Fylde, without having to reverse at Preston. On summer Saturdays, in the 1950/60s, there could be up to 100 excursion trains using this loop!

Was going to have a dabble at extending from Preston towards Blackburn and Burnley, based around the early sixties, using the existing WCML over Shap.

I must admit I an not that good at route building, but get by for my own use.

The thought of trying to backdating Preston was putting me off.
