Confussed, there is no TS2018, we have TS2017 or TSW, Is this a typing error or is there going to be an update to TS2017 to TS2018, if so why would have thought DTG would be sorting out problems with TSW rather than updating an old core game.

Why can't they do both?david1 wrote:Confussed, there is no TS2018, we have TS2017 or TSW, Is this a typing error or is there going to be an update to TS2017 to TS2018, if so why would have thought DTG would be sorting out problems with TSW rather than updating an old core game.
I think this is good news, especially starting from Crewe. I wonder if there will be a future extension to Holyhead.

I would imagine (this is just pure speculation) that it'll just be a few minor UI changes (maybe not even that?). There's still demand for TS and from what I've read online from DTG, there is two teams, one for TS the other for TSW.david1 wrote:Confussed, there is no TS2018, we have TS2017 or TSW, Is this a typing error or is there going to be an update to TS2017 to TS2018, if so why would have thought DTG would be sorting out problems with TSW rather than updating an old core game.
Even though I've got TSW, I still play TS more and that probably won't change anytime soon.

It will be an update to TS, taking it from TS2017 to TS2018 - as has happened in previous years. Why wouldn't they update a perfectly decent platform that has a worldwide following, is still selling well and is likely to be around for a long, long time yet?david1 wrote:... if so why would have thought DTG would be sorting out problems with TSW rather than updating an old core game.
Certainly won't be to the exclusion of TSW.
Very pleased to see it

Finally! Can't wait for this! Plenty of scenario interest too with 150/158/175/57/67/221/390 visiting in recent years as well as railtours, RHTT, NR test trains and probably some freight if only engineers workings.

Good news from DTG, however what chance the route will be supplied with stock that some of the now older simmers remember rather than the endless repeated modern stuff. Regional Railways class 37s, mark 1 and mark 2 coaches and class 101s were not all that long ago.

Better still blue class 24's, 25's, 40's, 45's, 46's 47's etc etc.

Yup. Agreed, but then I doubt the route is going to turn up in pre 1985 (ish) condition, so I thought the Regional Railways theme would stand a greater chance than BR blue.

I think this is really good news and an astute move by DTG
Until they've got TSW where they want it to be, which won't be for some time yet, DTG need a good revenue stream from TS20XX. Showing that it will remain a supported and evolving product gives users confidence to keep on buying DLC without the worry that it will shortly become obsolete.

Great news! Only downside for me is it's probably set in the modern era.
Hopefully some talented people will convert it to the BR blue (even BR green) era when there were freightliners to/from Holyhead, sheds and sidings along the line, not forgetting Mostyn docks and the site at Holywell - forget the name, going off what I can remember from the MSTS version.

Class 40's enjoyed their working life so much they whistled whilst they worked

Hmmm... I'm not normally one for pointless speculation but, given this statement by DTG, I do wonder whether they may be planning to link the route to the existing Liverpool - Manchester route....Prepare to visit the seaside, as North Wales Coastal: Crewe – Llandudno & Conwy Castle is coming soon, exclusively for Train Simulator 2018! Watch out for more news on TS2018 and North Wales Coastal soon, including details on how our existing players will be able to take a journey along the North Welsh Coast!
Whatever, it's simply great news!
David - there are many members here and elsewhere who have invested huge amounts of time and money into TS20xx. DTG may be the publishers of both sims but that doesn't mean that they would concentrate on TSW to the exclusion of TS20xx, which has many years' of life left in it yet. They are two separate sims that should be seen as such. If you doubt that, just look at the numbers of people who still use MSTS, which Microsoft hasn't supported since 2004!david1 wrote:... if so why would have thought DTG would be sorting out problems with TSW rather than updating an old core game.

Re: North Wales Coastal and Train Simulator 2018 - Coming soon
My question would be what do DTG mean by ''exclusively for Train Simulator 2018''. Sounds like you have to buy TS2018 to get this route. ''Including details on how our existing players will be able to take a journey along the North Welsh Coast'', would that also mean that you may have to purchase TS2018, and no free upgrade for those on TS2017?

Oh dear, all this paranoia!casrtt wrote:My question would be what do DTG mean by ''exclusively for Train Simulator 2018''. Sounds like you have to buy TS2018 to get this route. I would imagine it means that anyone who doesn't currently own Train Simulator would need to buy a copy to get this route, as has been the case before, whilst anyone who has an existing TS2017 installation may be able to obtain it cheaper or as an add-on without needing to buy the entire sim again.
