But not Matt nor anyone else is telling you to buy the AP pack, so don't take it out on people who will.
Taking it out on someone? What are you talking about? I asked a question and you are being far too sensitive about it.

Nowhere did I say I was happy, just that from my observations what was described sounds more like the original, that is all.

I didn't intend to start up a "worst sounds ever" discussion, but the Class 56 is so unique with its Class 60 style rumble overlayed with screaming HST-like turbos that I feel the sounds were neither captured that well, but weren't pieced together at all in a way to try realistic representation.
Are you sure you are not describing the original? Because the description above doesn't represent what I hear from the version on Steam.
I have never owned the original, I have only ever owned the version available through Steam with the fixed silver arrows on the cab side. As it's the only one I've ever owned I'm sure I can't be remembering the other one when describing the issue.

Glad that is cleared up then.

Although even a couple of hours on I'm still staggered that having an insignificant disagreement on sounds somehow makes me anti-AP and a DTG apologist. Quite the contrary, I'll be buying the AP pack as soon as it's released.

UK locos in European liveries does not seem to have been done very much

For example, this is the reason why there is no true ECR Class 66 with KPH speed indicator and KVB safety system.

JL
We have a DTG/RSC BR247/266 which has PZB and a KPH Speedo so it should be possible to use the cab from that in a EWSI Class 66 - I just don't know how to alaise one to the other.

More modern DLC through Steam has DRM protection that doesn't permit aliasing cabviews in different product folders, plus you'd possibly need to transfer across a lot of controls etc to get cabview items working.

Unfortunately, BR 247 and EWSI/ECR Class 66 cabs are not the same:

"French" Class 66 http://www.trainsfrancais.com/forum/cla ... 21140.html

Back to the AP Class 56. 8)

I presume it's not a problem with freeware? DBSO/4 Cig comes to mind

I was aware of that
My Idea was could you use the Class 66 loco body on a BR247/266 - obviously not.

Tangent finished - go back to your 56

I'm not usually one to grumble about the sounds, but having picked up the Steam 56 in a sale I have to say it doesn't sound like a 56, comparing either to Youtube or to my own experiences of them. It sort of sounds OK, if you imagine it's some other class of loco!

Might dip my toe in the AP water with this one at some stage...

That is what I miss most from my MSTS days, the being able to find freeware sound packs in the UKTS library and downloading and swapping them to find the ones that most sounded like the real loco, I do remember some of the class 56 ones being pretty good and bringing back memories of being trackside as one thrashed past me with a rake of MGR hoppers. 8)

I posted a video years ago asking the question if it sounded more like a washing machine than a class 56? Guess what the replies were? :-?

Haven't got a clue how to post an image but if you look at the link below again, a screenshot of a BR Blue version has appeared.
