Falmouth/Steam Sound Supreme Pannier

Post by Auscgu »

The 57xx Pannier is an iconic loco
Love driving even though it has a few quirks
Running the engine is challenging but with plenty of shovelling and good firing you get rewarded
It would be so nice to see the engine updated and the later cab types added to the fleet
The phisics of the engine updated like the manor
The Steam Sound Supreme reskins look great but have a frustrating reversed brake lever
Up for release and down for apply opposite the falmouth pannier
The error is in the script and we are still waiting for the promised fix
GWR Pannier Expansion
In association with Brian Yeomans, we present a fantastic set of repaints for the Falmouth Branch Pannier Tank*.

Liveries include BR Black(weathered) - early and late; London Transport Red - clean & weathered; GWR Green - shirtbutton, GWR & Great Western and NCB(weathered).
The Steam Sound Supreme sound do add a lot of charater in classics brake drag and noises as the loco moves around

Another issue that has been highlighted recently is there is a collision error in the Pannier Tank
I purchased the DT/Sim Nation launch new GWR Shunters Truck
This is Sim Nations first wagon and is very nice
The wagon screams for a pannier tank but with the collision error in the pannier
Coupling the shunter truck is horrific
The wagon jumps back on coupling and can even derail if you hit at speed
The shunter truck has been set up sensitive to improve our coupling skills but looks strange when coupling to the pannier
I spoke to Sim Nations and they confirmed the error with the Falmouth pannier
I have seen this with other wagons where they jump back as well
If you watch the buffers on the Loco they travel past the wagon buffer, hence the spring back on coupling

Has others seen this error

There is a known issue with the Riviera Pannier which has never been addressed by DTG. There is a lot of stock it won't couple too. The Falmouth Pannier is okay in this respect but is a bit wheezy.

It would be great to see a new standalone Pannier model including not just the 57xx.

Pannier Tanks built for autocoach working would be so nice in game.

A new Pannier would be ace - but I guess unlikely now (at least in TS20xx)

Falmouth Pannier doesn't like hills...

Riviera Pannier much better, but still a pain to manage steam generation / use, and it doesn't like coupling to other stock, as reported ^^

Don't quote me on it but I thought I heard somewhere that a new Pannier was on VictoryWorks' to do list at some point.
I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong.

A new pannier series from Victory Works would be great. I am sure it would be a popular add on but un likely as there doing the Large Prairies now.
I prefer the Falmouth pannier even though it is harder to steam. The steam generation and over all cut off and regulator settings seem far more realistic. I love they way you can work the loco hard with full regulator and a realistic cutoff and the boiler responds with burning through and making more steam. Keep the fire and water up and the damper open and life is better. The slow speed control for shunting is great and the internal external view for driving just adds to the charm of the loco as you can see and still operate all the cab fittings. More of this please.

Would also like to see and advanced legacy mode where all the keyboard controls have a two button control with a speed factor. So you have fine control. The ejectors, injectors, water valves, blower. I love the manual option to drive but find it to much on the higher speed services. The job in reality is a two man operation for a good reason. I love to have full control of the loco but find having to go back to the cab for controls which have difficult control tiresome and you miss important traffic information. Having realistic control of the full boiler from the heads out view would be great. Hence advanced keyboard control. My favourite view is heads out as your apart of the scene which is what makes Train Simulator great.

The Rivera Pannier has terrible low speed control, and you have to use very low cutoff to keep steam. Climbing large grades at not more than 25% cutoff. I do think the boiler holds pressure and is more lively if you keep the boiler up to pressure. The coupling issue on and steam issues on both leaves a key spot for someone to fill with a quality add on. Panniers have so many variants and the smaller auto fitted panniers would be very nice as well
