Maybe that's one of the obligatory bugs for which DTG can issue a super quick patch after release.
We can do that now in TS17 with camera 8.
Maybe that's the same.

I know about cam 8 but on the video it really looked to me like they were actually walking down the corridor of the train.

...and so they should be.... would you expect any company to demonstrate their products on weak equipment?

Yeah lets have a waffle on about what PCs DTG use for demoing their products on that will be fun.

That aside and on topic the in game footage of passenger mode looks very interesting nice clean coach interiors but buffet looks to be closed so no in games snacks and drink to be bought will have to pack a flask and sarnies.

Knocked up this quick comparison with the launch HST from Rail Simulator versus the latest shots of what will be the launch HST for TSW.

Chalk and cheese everyone and I'd wager there might be more polygons within one bogie and wheeler than there is in most of the original Kuju HST model - I was genuinely fooled thinking the new shots were photos.

If I remember correctly the early routes in Rail Simulator were rather clean and when Wales and Borders came along it was a breath of reality as there was lots of beautiful clutter. Such a shame it was never finished

In the absence of any TSW asset editors, does anyone know if the texture files can be edited using say UE4 tools?

As soon as TSW was available in beta form, people at Railworks America had got under the hood and managed to extract and modify the textures, with differing success. It's another learning process I guess.

Looks stunning. I wonder if they've just reworked the original 3D models they had or they've been built again from scratch?

This question came up when CSX HH first came out. The response (from Matt on a twitch stream IIRC) was that DTG did try importing some existing models but they paled in comparison to models built from scratch in UE4. I suspect, but obviously do not know for certain, that DTG built from scratch for GWE for the same reason.

I believe the models are scratch built new items. It would be far harder to insert areas of increased detail into pre existing meshes, and it wouldn't be half as likely to work. Then there's the obvious raft of available materials to use in UE4 Vs the engine in TS that it would be a pointless and time consuming task tbh.

Visuals certainly look stunning, no doubt about that & not long now until release & we'll got to find out if the sounds are accurate.

Hopefully the sounds will be very accurate and well produced, to match the visuals.

To be fair DTG/RSC have improved greatly in that area. I remember the early Rail Simulator days, the class 166 sounded like a worn out Transit van and the HST or 47 didn't sound anything like the prototype. Tracks sounds were pretty much absent, pulling into somewhere like Newcastle you would only hear the sound of the engine, no rail joints or clattering over points, just a very faint snare drum sound. They are much better now.

Reading the latest article about the planned 300+ services my immediate thought was to send up a prayer that DTG's claim to have "significantly improved performance" turn out to be true in practice. If not then the frequent freezes whenever a train is approaching will drive me up the wall!
