Hi Paul,
Did your hard drive fail??
Regarding installing Dorset Coast - I knew someone had posted the complete procedure up to v5, but it took some finding!! Have a look at this thread : http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 23#p794081
Cheers,

Re: DORSET COAST SETUP FILES PLEASE.
Hi Paul, as Ged has said the fact that this fault only occurred after you renewed your membership has nothing to do with it as I have never
had any problems after doing so many times.
What I wrote about my logging in and out the other day was after I renewed my membership only a month or so ago using Google Chrome instead
of the normal Google search engine because it failed to show the extra test to see if I was a human being and not a machine.

Every time I open UKTrainSim, I Login with my user Name and Password, click remember me and login. it then asks if I want my Password Remembered and I say Yes.
And When I go to the Forum Page and log in again, It does the same thing.
But neither are remembering my Details.
I'm still having to type my User Name and Password to access the Site.
Hope this makes sense.
Many thanks

Re: DORSET COAST SETUP FILES PLEASE.
Hi Paul, I like the old Google and so this year when I tried to pay my membership fee for another year could not see the verification Section, I reported
this fact to Peter and he said he would look into this matter.
Later on I installed Google Chrome and using this could now see all of the details and so paid for another years membership using my HSBC Visa Card,
I still the old Google search engine for normal use but have on my desktop an Icon linking me to Google Chrome and will use that next year to renew
my membership.

I have tried Copying the Dorset Coast Folder, from the Routes Folder to a CD, but it never seems to works when copying it back to a new MSTS Installation.
Many thanks

Re: DORSET COAST SETUP FILES PLEASE.
Hi Paul,
The most straight forward way for you would be to back up the whole MSTS root folder (ie the folder containing ROUTES, TRAINS, etc.), but the best way would, probably, be to create a mini route.
Before you backup, unstore everything from Train Store (or Mini Loader, if you use that).
Cheers,
Ged
That's probably because the GLOBAL folder is missing some files, and don't forget the CONSISTS and TRAINSET folders, particularly if you've included, or installed, activities....but it never seems to works when copying it back to a new MSTS Installation

I Always wanted all my Routes to be Mini Routes. In the long run, I think this would probably be less Hassle, with just a Shortcut on the Desktop for each of the Routes I wished to run.
Unfortunately I Attempted to Create a Mini Route Last year which turned into a complete Nightmare, but may try another go at creating a Mini Route for "Dorset Coast" Tomorrow.
"FINGERS CROSSED"
Many thanks

Paul.
P.S. If I was lucky enough to Create a Mini Route would MSTS still be Required on the Main Computer?

Re: DORSET COAST SETUP FILES PLEASE.
Hi Paul,
You still need MSTS to be installed because its Registry entries are used for holding settings. I DO NOT recommend removing the default installation because, if you ever purchase one of the UKTS mini routes (eg MEP), its installer uses it to build the core of the mini route. Also, you may well need it in the future!
Do you have only one MSTS installation, or have you got one for Dorset Coast and a separate default installation?
Cheers,
Ged

Re: DORSET COAST SETUP FILES PLEASE.
Hi Paul,
You mentioned, in an earlier post, that you intend to have several mini routes - how will you set them up?
I don't know how other members have their installations set up, but this is my recommendation :
1. Install MSTS from its CDs,following the Steam4Me tutorial - this should include the v1.4 update; make sure it runs correctly.
2. Add the MSTS Bin patch (v1.8.0521 EN). Check it still works OK.
3. Add all the extras you usually use, like XTracks, NewRoads, UK FineScale, etc. This is not essential, but can save time later. Re-test to make sure all is still OK.
4. Take a backup if the whole MSTS root folder - this may be called Train Simulator or !MSTS, or whatever name you chose. Rename the backup folder to something like : !MSTS - Basic Backup.
5. A copy of the backup folder is used to create any new installation - the backup folder NEVER has any routes or stock added to it.
6. When you want to create a new installation, say for Dorset Coast, make a copy of the backup folder and rename it, something like : !MSTS - Dorset. Install the route into this installation. Make a Desktop shortcut to its train.exe.
The installation resulting from 6. is not a true mini route, because it contains all the MSTS default routes and stock, and needs Train Store or Mike Simpson's Mini Loader to run successfully. The latter is easier to use - download it from UKTS (file ID 19412), place mini_loader.exe into the MSTS root folder (same as train.exe) and create a Desktop shortcut to it (renamed as required) - the original train.exe shortcut (see 6. above) is not required.
NOTE : If you are using an Operating System later than XP, files launcher.exe and train.exe (in the MSTS root folder) MUST be set to "Run as administrator" in ALL installations.
I realise that to follow the above, would need you to start from scratch again, but I believe, in the end, it'd be much easier for you to make additional mini routes.
It is also useful to have a basic installation, with the MSTS default name (ie as installed at 1.), so that mini routes, like MEP, can copy all its required files and folders from it.
Cheers,
Ged
