DEM terrain import keeps freezing?

Hi everyone I seem to be having serious problem with DEM terrain import for some odd reason? Every time I now import the DEM terrain feature no matter what size tile I use it just stops works altogether has anybody else had this issue with DEM terrain before? If so can they tell me how to fix it to stop it from doing this again.

It only seems to do it on the Stoke-on-Trent area of the map any advice of this?

Well they do say Stoke is five towns looking for a City Centre!
Apart from that, I have no idea why that should happen. Which DEM data are you using?
